This is a striking set of three vintage onyx stone slab paintings, each hand-painted and signed by the artist Omar. Mounted on their original stone bases, these pieces are as solid as they are dramatic, weighing approximately 19 lbs total before packing. Each stone slab is designed to be freestanding and displays on its original stone base (not wall-mounted). Centerpiece: Chief Wolf Robe Southern Cheyenne, c. His historic likeness has inspired many artworks and photographs. Additional Slabs: One male and one female portrait, likely inspired by early Native American studio photography, which was commonly used by Southwestern artists. Medium: Hand-painted on polished onyx (stone slabs). Signed: Omar (all three pieces). Handmade: Yes – Original works of art. Dimensions: See photos for approx. 19 lbs total (before packing). Era: Likely 1970s-1990s Southwestern folk art market. Vintage condition with visible signs of age. The Chief Wolf Robe slab shows scratches, scuffs, and small areas of paint loss, mostly along the lower edge where the slab sits in its base (see close-ups). No major cracks or structural damage. Please review all photos carefully. These are handmade, signed originals, not reproductions or prints. The artist Omar is not a documented Native American artisan; therefore these are offered as Native-inspired Southwestern folk art, not as authentic Native American-made art. A rare opportunity to own a complete signed set of three Omar onyx slab paintings, featuring Chief Wolf Robe as the centerpiece. Perfect for Southwestern décor, rustic lodge interiors, cabin style, or folk art collections. These are heavy stone artworks approx. 19 lbs before packing.

Old, 1968 oil painting on heavy Masonite board depicting an American Western scene. Signed lower left by the artist, “Denver” along with artist device bear claw or longhorn? Untouched condition painting has never even been cleaned. I see no condition problems and the colors are still really nice. The frame has a lot of loss but this doesn’t jump out at me because it has a sort of distressed look anyway. In this painting by Denver, we have a Native American man. He has a knife on his belt, a peace pipe with feathers dangling down, feathers in his hair, jewelry, etc. He’s reaching up toward the sky, perhaps doing some ritual. There’s a cattle skull on the ground. His horse is off grazing, to the right. I’m unsure if this would be considered the American West or Southwest. The mountain or big butte has some nice, pink color to it. It was in their American Indian and Western Firearm Antique Sale. It was titled “Buffalo Range”. Since it was dated and from 1984, I take it that the artist actively painted in the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s. The artist, Denver, will be hard to research because everything from Colorado, where Denver is, and the singer John Denver! Will come up in search results. I think he was a talented, Regionalist, Outsider Artist. It seems like people think of Folk Art and Naive art as at least similar to Outsider Art but they’re just all terms I guess. Denver was painting in his own style, a blend of realism and colorful impressionism. Since he apparently specialized in Native American themes such as this and the bison, he carved out a genre for himself much like Albert Looking Elk did with painting Taos Pueblo scenes. Oil on Masonite board. Signed and dated “Denver”, “68” and with artist’s device. Mounted in shabby chic, distressed frame. Painting measures 16 x 14 inches. Overall measurements with frame: 19 5/8 x 17 5/8 inches. Painting itself in excellent original condition. This item is in the category “Art\Paintings”.
