Offered here is a RARE PAIR of American Folk Art. Botanical paintings on velvet material. Condition : excellent antique condition no flaws or stains! These belonged to my mother and she received them as a gift from the artist Mrs. Esther Ball Sherwood (1896 – 1982) of North Haven and Old Saybrooke Ct. Esther painted theses about (1914 -1917). My mom had them re framed in the early 1960s. We added a short bio about Esther’s husband a NYC medical doctor from the. (last photo) we have larger paintings that Esther signed with her initials E. That we are keeping for now. Each weighs close to 1/2 lb. With a 1 lb total weight framed. Size of each in frames is 6 ” tall x 5 ” wide. Painting # 1 is a painting of a Scottish Bull Thistle (wild flower) purple. Painting # 2 is a ” Pink Lady’s Slipper ” orchid.
