Antique 19th century, c1860s, original oil painting of an eye catching folk art townscape at dusk. Depicts a riverside mill town complete with buildings, Windmill and old stone bridge arching over a gently cascading waterfall. Presumably a New England scene. Medium is oil on canvas done in a folk art style. Framed in its original lemon gold gesso and wood frame and ready to hang. Very intriguing and worthy of further research. Provenance comes from a Keene, New Hampshire area estate. In Good overall condition. Exhibits gentle cracking and soiling. No holes, rips, tears or indents. Frame shows gentle chipping and loss to the gesso at the corners. Eye catching and appealing. Measures 15 1/4″ x 12 1/4″ and 19 1/4″ x 16 1/4″ with the frame. All reasonable offers considered. HUGE Original OIL PAINTING Folk ART PENNSYLVANIA Americana. Description A gorgeous oil painting picked up at a Pennsylvania estate that is quite old. 42 by 36 1/2 inches oil painting. Really a great painting in an original hand carved frame. Frame is chipping and finish is coming off. Gorgeous as is but could definitely use some TLC if you are up for it. Couple tears repaired and overpainted as can be seen from the photo. Gap between canvas and frame but held in place. This one will light up any wall. The wood has split over the years and does feel slightly loose if you wiggle it. This could be repaired. There are a few spots where the oil has started to “craze”. Some scuffs/scratches on the painting in different spots. There is a “makers mark” from the table-top that was painted over – located right next to his ear.
