Nice antique American folk art portrait Miniature of a well dressed woman seated on a classical chair ca 1840s. The painting appears to be in its original frame. It was painted in old gold paint with the original lemon gold surface underneath the gold paint. The painting is in good condition and measures 5 3/4h x 4 1/2w with frame. Beautiful and rustic, we have a charming original primitive folk art picture or mirror frame with birch bark and twig accents throughout. Although we have obvious age and patina, this example is in fine condition with great integrity. We note some of the tiny little nails on the back side were never completely hammered down to the wood level… We will leave the decision to you to complete that task. It does not harm use, display or hanging. Solid wire assembly is in place, however, you could also remove and replace to change the direction of the piece for hanging should you choose to do so. Great original piece for cabin or rustic setting or decor! Exterior measures in at 14 & 1/2″ x 13″ with an interior back opening of 9″ x 7 & 1/2″. Paint Decorated Miniature Blanket Chest or Document Box New York State, Folk Art
Beautiful little paint decorated miniature blanket chest or document box. The paint decoration is similar to one found in New York State. The box features a unique painted pattern on the front and sides in shades of salmon, red, green and yellow. It has wire hinges, a till inside, a nice base molding and delicately turned legs. This is a quality reconstruction made from old vintage poplar and pine. The back is unpainted. There is damage to the inside back edge of the top. (See photo) The dimensions are: 9-3/4″ wide x 5-1/4″ tall x 3-1/2 deep (front to back). There are scrapes and small dents. This is a very nice miniature chest.
