Antique Early Primitive Cloth Folk Art Rag Doll Drawn Oil Painted Face 20

Her face has been both drawn and painted on. Her hair is painted swirls. She has rosy cheeks, pink lips and the corners of her eyes have been colored pink, along with her nostrils. Her irises are a pale blue/grey. She has thick black lashes and a tiny dimple in her chin. Her head is big and round from the front, and somewhat flat from the sides (known as a’lollipop’ head doll). She has chubby hands with little nubby fingers. All her clothing has been sewn on, including her bonnet. She has a navy blue calico dress, and linen bloomers. Her shoes are oil cloth. She is quite solid and filled with straw (which you can see through her muslin body). The doll is jointed at the shoulders and hips and can sit. This doll has it all! A great folky, primitive look and a lovely addition to your collection! Condition: This doll is in very good condition for her age. Her socks have faded, there’s a small hole in the back of her bonnet and her bloomers are slightly dirty and have yellowed over the years. There are no holes in the doll. Add me to your favorites! Antique Victorian Full Length Family Portrait Folk Art Silhouette Painting c1840

You are viewing a n antique early Victorian painted silhouette of a large family 11 including the dog/pony! I would estimate it was painted sometime around 1840. This silhouette is one of three all from the same source, and all three were painted on card on the back of an old print. It also looks like all three silhouettes were framed at some point as they show evidence of yellowing where a frame once displayed them. This silhouette measures approximately 4 1/4 inches by 8 inches and has been matted in a modern mat which measures 6 1/2 by 9 1/4 inches. It is in great condition with no tears or holes. Some minor yellowing to the card where it was once framed. All items I sell are fully guaranteed to be as I have described them. Most of my auctions are listed with no reserve. R. A. Miller folk art paintings on metal 2 SIDED American Flag

Reuben Aaron Miller (July 22,1912 March 7, 2006) was a self-taught folk artist, best known for his whirligigs, metal cutouts and drawings. His work gained wider recognition in the 1980s, when it wasfeatured in a twenty-minute music video. And subsequently exhibited in museums of art. Widely collected, and in constant demand, Miller is acknowledged as one of the more notablesenior folk artists in the United States. Miller dropped out of school at the age of 12 and went to work in a cotton mill. He also chopped wood for 50 cents a load. Later in life he served as an ordained minister for the Free WillBaptist Church. Miller used his artwork to help spread the word of God. His materials consisted of paint, magic marker, tin, bicycle parts, and scrap metal. His work generall yconsisted of animal and human figures, and short inspirational messages, most notably Lord Love You. The Georgia Museum of Art organized a retrospective of Miller’s work in 2009. 24″ x 14.5″ on painted scrap sheet metal , signed R.
