Truly Exceptional, Antique, American, Primitive Folk Art Portrait Painting. I believe they call this style of folk art painting “grotesque” as some of her features are exaggerated. She may have been a seamstress (see thimble on hand). Oil on canvas painting. I would date the painting to the early-mid 1800’s. Framed the painting measures 19″ by 15″, unframed: 15 3/4″ by 12″. Excellent-very good antique condition. One tiny dimple (mid-left) that does not penetrate canvas (please see images).
