Antique c1800 Oil PaintingFolk Art PrimitiveMinstrels or Musicans at the Door. Up for sale is this very interesting and intriguing oil painting on canvas. You are given the perspective of standing in your home and coming to the door to be greet by a group of minstrels. There is a grown man and young boy with fiddles who are followed by a group of young children to catch the action. The artist has a done a great job creating an air of expectation in their faces. Interesting to note the architecture of the buildings in the background, open shutter and brick work leading to a chimney. Painting done in naive and charming style. Painting is probably European in origin. There is no signature or mark found. Please examine all pictures for detail. Really a very interesting and unusual piece that might be of interest. Measures 20″ X 24″. There is crackulature throughout painting. I personally think it adds charm to the piece. A patch was made by a previous owner. I have looked under black light and there was some in painting done to the man’s pants but can not be seen in normal light. The keys to the canvas are missing and replacements would tighten the canvas. Thanks for looking and have a blessed day. Out customers are very important to us.
