A great painting on wooden board by the famous folk artist Rita Schroeder. 25 1/4″ X 21 1/4″ with frame and 20″ X 16″ without frame. Both painting and frame are in very good condition. Titled and signed lower leftMarketplace by Rita M. Schroeder” and in lower right “Nov. On back is label with No. 28 Marketplace so this is one of the earlier paintings by this great folk artist. Outstanding example of Bonn’s widely collected Classic Cars/Diners Americana series from 1981. Scarce original oil measures 30″ long and 18″ tall not including dark stained wood box frame. Image features four stylized classic cars parked in front of the “Big Pine Creek” Diner & Gas Station and red Ford pick-up hauling hay across a trestle. Great color and detail! Image has two areas of surface wear from storage: above gas station (circled in photo) and in upper right corner near diner smoke (circled in photo). Not quite perfect but displays great. No holes, stains etc. Frames has some small dents and light storage wear, mainly along edges. Backing features original Bonn biographical info. 30 day satisfaction guarantee. C Original Folk Art Oil Painting Portrait of a Civil War or GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) Soldier. Framed behind glass so oil painting appears to be on wood board. Unsigned folk art painting. Has an American flag & water – mountain-scape in background. Painting measures approximately 10″ x 12″ & framed 13-3/8″ x 15-3/8″. Condition is original & good. There is what appears to be the remnants of a gold leaf paint line, in the form of an arch, at the top of the painting (see last two pictures). It may have been to outline the top of the painting? OLD ANTIQUE Primitive Fine Folk Art OIL PAINTING of CHICAGO in 1832 artwork

Up for sale here is very interesting, antique, circa late 1890s to about 1915 framed oil painting on canvas by an unknown artist. The title of this painting is “Chicago 1832″ This fine oil painting is being offered in its original Arts and Crafts style antique solid wood black painted frame. The size of the oil painting only comes to 22 inches high by 36 inches across and with the frame 27 1/2 inches by 41 1/2 inches. There is no artist signature on the front or the back from what we can see. This painting was part of the collection that once belonged to the Evanston Historical Society located in Evanston, ILL the suburb directly attached to Chicago’s most North and East City limit. It was donated back to the Historical Society back in 1955 which you can see on the back but it does not have the Historical Societies name on it. This painting is going to require an extensive restoration and cleaning. This painting appears to have been stored in an attic in a very warm and dry environment. The entire surface of the painting has an even fine paint crackling. There is a three inch tear in the bottom center. The canvas is also worn and coming loose along the bottom edge of the painting where it meets the frame’s edge but it is not water damaged or stained. There is also a 1/2 inch tear in the canvas in the right center and another 1 1/2 inch tear near the largest tear pictured. There are a few fine paint scratches to the surface of which most would lighten up or disappear once the painting was cleaned and re-varnished. This is a wonderful piece of antique folk art.
