Each of these lovely 1890s frames retain nice original surface of bronze powder gilding on ornate gesso framing bright lemon gold coves and house richly colored oil on board fruit still lives signed and dated, M FULLER 1920. Measuring 17 x 21 ½ overall (each) with 12 x 16 ½ reveal (sight) and 12 ½ x 17 actual, the paintings are in good stable condition with no losses and expected surface grime for their age. One painting has a crease upper right with old in-paint. The panel has been reinforced with an old linen patch on the back. You will note losses in the fancy gesso edges on both frames. Antique Folk Art, Early American (1837) Still Life Painting

Early 19th Century Oil Painting. Early Americana Folk Art Oil; depicting Fruit, Water Melon, Basket, Copper Milk Churn, and cut of Meat. The painting is very clean with a varnish developed with the National Gallery of Art for the protection of antique paintings. Painting would have been painted between 1820 and late 1830. Basket style is synonymous with that period and an infrared photo shows a date of 1837 written under paint layer (see black and white photo attached). Paint is very stable with a couple of very minor losses which do not effect the work, painting was relined at some point in the 19th century with new stretcher bars. Wonderful example of a highly sought after early American folk art style. The paintings are held in with thin sheets of wood on the back. I see no damage to either painting, with frames having loss of finish, nicks, stains and the like here and there(9ncluding a small crack shown in photo #11).
