Original Oil Painting Old Christian Church impressionistic Pioneer Spirit 16x12
16 x12 original oil painting on wood panel. Inspired by the one and only Robert Daughters church. Signed and dated by artist. My Art work is high quality work. Each piece is done with care and emotion. This painting is about be still and pay attention. The color and brush stroke is rich with plenty of movement. The rich texture and a close crop makes this painting alive and engaging. The compelling color and the emotional charge make this painting personal. This is Professional quality oil painting. It is one of a kind. It calls up the spirit of American History, the frontier, the west, and those who are a free spirit. This work has visible brush strokes, full bodied and is alive. There are earth tones in each painting so that it fits in on any wall. Laurelle Macy grew up on a farm in northern Canada. Endless in its dimensions, untamed in its spirit, curious in its isolation, to Laurelle it is this and more. It is the stuff of passion, of creation, of timeless inspiration. Macy’s relationship with the land and its people is a seasoned one. Raised in a series of bush camps, Indian reservations and boom towns in Canada’s North West Territories, Macy understood early on, that her paintings could act as windows to a world little seen by others, but well known and loved by her. Laurelle first obtained her Associates in Adverting Design. She worked as a graphic designer before moving on to get her Bachelors in art at Brigham Young University. After returning to the north Laurelle enjoyed success in a number of galleries, festival and commissions. Her and her family moved to Utah where she completed her master’s degree at the University of Idaho and has been actively involved in advanced design education at the college level. Laurelle’s major talent lies in her portrayal of what she calls “living” material. The centerpieces of her artwork are native people, landscapes, and wildlife, all arrestingly “alive” in her paintings. Macy’s refinement of detail is engaging and her love of color apparent, at times immediate and aggressive, at others subtle and leading. Macy experience with color and composition seems to reflect the very personality of her subjects. To see her paintings and feel somehow touched by an open genuine spirit. This singular connection between the viewer and the subject is Macy’s desire. To paint the west, its people, animals and its landscape with compassion and insight, she hopes is her success. Laurelle Macy’s work has been shown in galleries across Northern Canada and in select studios in Utah. In addition to her work, Macy is faculty a national art institute, has illustrated children’s books, portrait painter and is a 3 time grant recipient celebrating northern native people. Her diverse career, where she worked along side Dene Nation elders and Inuit carvers, to the cutting edge world of graphic design gives her tremendous understanding and perspective. An artist of unquestionable talent with yet untapped potential. Macy is certainly someone to watch for.

Up for sale is an absolutely incredible piece that I picked up from a local garage sale. This mixed media sculpture/construction/diorama assemblage art was created by famed Simi Valley, California illustrator Ronald Lipking, who is well known as a children’s (including Sesame Street magazine) and comic books illustrator, and is featured in the National Gallery of Art. This piece is a “Ghost Box” that contains a a demon head poking out from center, replete with horns and hair. It also has hand-painted interior panels and gives off a very Dia De Los Muertos/Halloween vibe. The painted scenes on the doors are spectacular. Interestingly, the piece does not completely close due to the demon head protruding from the box, but I think it is best displayed with the doors open in any case. The piece is in very good condition. There are some scratches on both sides. The front doors are also a little weathered/scuff, but that could be intentional. Piece measures approximately 11 inches high x 9 inches wide (14.5 inches with the doors extended) x 3 inches deep. If the item is not paid for within this time frame, it will be resold. More pictures available on request. Please note that this item is not accompanied by a certificate of authenticity or any other source verifying its authenticity.

The information on the back of this picture: Artist Jimmy Marrulungga date July 23,1985 / Language Tribal Group: Rembarrnga Domicile: Jarrnluk Title of the Art: Mimi Spirit. Information on Bark Art, Mimi Spirits, & the Artist & area of Rembarrnga which the artist is from. Rembarrnga clan country lies to the south and west of Ramingining, towards the Katherine area. It is the inland stone country, marked by rocky outcrops and sweeping plains as the landscape gives way to the sandstone escarpment country of west Arnhem Land. The rugged nature of this environment is reflected in the materials used and the execution of the hollow logs from this region. Artist Jimmy Marrulungga depicts the great upheavals which led to the creation of the Rembarrnga lands in ancestral times;… Mimi spirits, are fairy-like beings of Arnhem Land in the folklore of the Indigenous Australians of Northern Australia who live in the rocky escarpment within the rocks as spirits. They have inhabited the rocks since the beginning of time & are believe to still be living there today. They are described as having extremely thin elongated bodies, so thin as to be in danger of breaking in case of a high wind. To avoid this, they usually spend most of their time living in rock crevices. They are said to have taught the Aborigines of Australia how to hunt and prepare kangaroo meat. Before the coming of Aboriginal people the Mimi’s had human forms. When Aboriginal people first came to northern Australia, the Mimi taught them many skills They also taught Aboriginal people how to paint. Aboriginal rock painting of Mimi spirits can be found dating back as far as 50,000 years ago in the Nourlangie Rock in Arnhem Land or Kakadu in the Northern Territory of Australia. In the Dreamtime they taught many skills, including hunting, weaving, fishing, painting on rock and on bark, ceremonial songs and dances to old medicine men (marrkidjbu), who in turn passed their knowledge on to the elders of the tribe so that they could teach other chosen men. Without a written language, painting was the only way in which the history and religion of the tribe could be passed down, thereby ensuring that future generations would know of the deeds of the Ancestral Beings who walked the earth in the beginning of time. Mimis are so shy that they hide within huge boulders all day long and only come out at night by blowing holes in the rocks and emerging with their weapons and pets – echidnas, crocodiles, kangaroos, goannas, bandicoots, rock wallabies, butterflies, fish, birds, turtles, brolgas, barramundi, turtles, and small rock pythons (to mention just a few) which live in the rocks and waterways with them. They are generally calm in nature and only get upset when an intruder kills or injures one of their pets. They are not against any other of these species being killed for food, but they become extremely upset if one of their own pets is harmed. All night – the Mimis hunt & fish & hold ceremonies, then at dawn they go back into their homes & pull the rock doors shut after them. Aborigines respect the wishes of Mimi Spirits to have complete privacy, &are careful to stay well away from the escarpments at night. This item is in the category “Art\Paintings”.
