Offering a beautiful mid 19th century antique round wooden pantry box in an early, dry, “crusty”, worn, mustard painted surface. The box is a really nice, thick heavy gauge, early example, with lots of character and age appropriate wear. The overlapping on the lid and box are secured with the original tacks and the bottom and top are secured with wooden pegs. DIMENSIONS – 6 5/8″ diameter top, 6 3/8″ diameter base, 2 7/8 high. Unsigned but attributable Hersey pantry box in original greenish paint; color is less vibrant than it appears in the photos and some have said it’s slightly blue-green. Maple and Pine, iron tacks, top and bottom fastened at four points only and with wooden pegs (Hersey attributes). Very minor wear, no cracks or repairs. It’s approx 6.25″L x 4.5″W x 2.25H. Offering a very nice 19th century antique round wooden pantry box in wonderful dry bluish green paint, and signed “J BURR”…. John Burr (1791 – 1857) a well known, well documented maker / cooper out of Hingham Mass. The box is a nice early, thick, heavy gauge example in wonderful, early, bluish green paint, with lots of character and age appropriate wear. The overlapping on the lid and box are secured with the original copper tacks and the bottom and top are secured with wooden pegs. DIMENSIONS – 6 11/16″ diameter top, 6 1/2″ diameter base, 2 15/16 high. THE BOX IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION… NO WOOD LOSS OR REPAIRS – IT DOES HAVE A SPLIT IN THE BOTTOM, WHICH DOES NOT GO THROUGH TO THE INTERIOR. The pantry box is a nice small, heavy gauge example, and has copper tacks and wooden pegs securing the lid band and the overlapping on the box.
