FOLK ART Abstract Man Portrait. This piece exemplifies the emotion and talents of Mr. Vibrant colors, which my camera did NOT capture well. Loaded with Michael’s signature razor etchings! BIO: Michael has won many honors with his work which has been exhibited in New York, Denver, and Atlanta. The Hurn Museum in Savannah, Georgia presented a One-Man exhibition of his work in 2005 and has a number of his works in their permanent collection. Articles featuring his work have appeared in Southern Living magazine (August 2006) and Better Homes and Gardens (August 2006). A review of his Hurn exhibition in the Savannah Morning News stated, “Michael Banks: Outsider Artist” offers Savannah’s most rewarding and penetrating solo show in recent memory. As this unforgettable exhibit clearly indicates, Banks is one outsider artist who has certainly earned the right to be on the inside. Michael Banks continues painting full time. He states, I still experiment, combining both found objects as well as artist materials into my work. Every day I try to create. Painting is my life.

This primitive piece is one of the works of RA (Reuben Aaron) Miller. It is painted on hard board and signed as shown. The piece has the inscription Lord Love You, which is a recurring theme in the artist’s work. This piece is visually very appealing and attractive. Condition is good, the board is stable and there are a few small blemishes consistent with age. Reuben Aaron Miller (July 22, 1912 – March 7, 2006) was a self-taught folk artist, best known for his whirligigs, metal cutouts and drawings. His work gained wider recognition in the 1980s, when it was featured in a music video, and subsequently exhibited in museums of art. Widely collected, and in constant demand, Miller is acknowledged as one of the more notable senior folk artists in the United States. He was featured in one of REM’s video’s. One of Miller’s neighbors recollected When he first started, we all laughed at him and said’Who wants that junk? In addition to the recognition he received from R. Miller’s artwork appeared on the December 2001 cover of TV Guide. Miller began receiving visitors from overseas. In 2006 Brenau University’s Simmons Visual Arts Center featured his works in an exhibit titled R. The Georgia Museum of Art organized a retrospective of Miller’s work in 2009. The exhibit, titled Lord Love You: Works by R. Miller from the Mullis Collection ran August 15 through October 24, 2009. It featured 83 paintings, drawings, sculptures and whirligigs by Miller. Measurements are: 12 by 18 3/8 and 1/8 thick. Please understand that all the folk artwork is handmade, and handmade items, by nature, have imperfections. Examine the pictures closely, as all imperfections are captured in the photos.

Mixed media on cardboard. Approximately 6″ x 4″ (irregular sides). Warning: actual color of original painting may be different due to variations of screen settings and the fact the artist is color impaired. E9Art (aka eric) has been a typesetter, tire changer, the coffee dude, that pizza guy, and a full-time artist. Eric didn’t’discover’ art until he was in his 50s, partially due to the idea that he couldn’t be an artist being colorblind, and partially that he was raised in an environment where art was considered a waste of time because’art doesn’t put food on the table. Since his first art sale in 2014, he has been making up for lost time. E9art can be found on twitter, facebook, pinterest and tumblr. Eric’s home and studio can be found in his hometown of Walton, NY.

This folk-art painting done by Mary Reed is absolutely beautiful. A southern rural farm with the wisteria growing in the tree on a warm spring day, the chickens scratching in the yard and momma bringing in the wash. Frame measurements are 21 1/2 x 16 1/2. I’m not sure on the production time but it seems to me to have been done midcentury by the looks of the water color board on the back. Questions please ask and thanks for looking…
