Though Henry Lapp is a noted Amish, Lancaster County cabinet maker and folk painter, it is his insatiable color that proves so memorable. Born deaf, perhaps limited communication served his imagination – a freedom is surely evident here. Commemorating the Ulysses S. Grant / Schuyler Colfax presidency of the time, signed and dated 1874. Measures 9 x 21, pinholes (a few appear at the head of the eagle) and small breaks along original folds, some staining. Very simply, a show stopper. Please see photos (last detail best illustrates the heavy depth of the work) and contact with questions. Thanks much for looking.
