AAFA EARLY ANTIQUE FOLK ART WOOD HARVEST FALL FARM SORTING TABLE ORIGINAL PAINT. Up for sale is this beautiful old kitchen/farm/sorting table. It’s a wonderful Primitive table with a great patina to it. The cream color paint is old and has other red or wood undertones as you can see in the pictures. The paint is alligator-ed, worn, peeled and crackled over time, especially on the drawer. The table has been well used and thus you get the benefits of this amazing ages-old look. It has nicks, dings, edgewear, scrapes, cuts, cracks, knots, stains, chips, chunks and an absolutely wonderful patina. The top of the table is comprised of 4 boards. The top was painted and from years of use has lots of marks, spots, scrapes and obvious wear , just the way we like it! It has a smooth look to it and has a border / wood edge around the top of the table to keep things from rolling off. There is also a cut out / chunk missing from one side above the drawer, we’re not sure why. The legs square and tapered as you can see in the pictures. One leg has a small amount of damage to it as you can see in the last picture. You don’t really notice the damage, if at all, when the table is standing up. The table measures 60″ L x 30.25″ W x 32.25 H at the highest point. The skirt, or apron of the table, measures 24.5 H to the floor. This is a great table and would make an amazing centerpiece in your kitchen or dining room. It’s sure to be a conversation starter! We can also recommend a couple of shippers. This is a great table! With the arrival of video and video cassettes during 1980s In Ghana (West Africa) a small-scale film distribution / mobile Cinema was created. This small size mobile “Cinema” operators were equipped with a television a Video and sometimes with a small portable generator and were moving from town to town from village to village operating and showing their films! (During the day inside social clubs or houses and during the night in the open air). In order to attract more customers and in order to advertise their mission and business the need of huge posters was created and born. Talented artists after viewing the film were creating large size posters using oil paint on canvas (Because of unavailability and high cost of imported canvas , The artists were using used flour sacks sewn together). The artist had the freedom to add or change scenes seen or not seen in the film in order to make the poster more attractive (This is the reason that this hand painted posters are more interesting as ART than the normal posters since each of this hand painted poster is UNIQUE and except the film content it also express the artist himself). These posters were rolled or folded and easy to move around with the mobile Cinema. Because of the posters ” hard ” life (Folded or rolled, under the rain and sun and display for several months during their rounds all over Ghana) most of the surviving posters have damage at the end of the canvas, peelings, cracking and other damages. By the mid 1990s the mobile Cinema business declined and almost collapsed since television and video was more widely available in Ghana. The profits of the mobile Cinema operators were also reduced and they were not able to afford the “expensive” talented artists to paint their posters anymore. At the present days they have to rely with Photocopy paper posters in order to survive and reduce cost. There are also some old rusty round nails in the top as well as a couple of newer, shiny ones. The legs are turned, ballister style legs as you can see in the pictures. The table measures 75.5″ L x 33″ W x 31 H at one corner (on the casters). At the opposite, kitty-corner, it is 30 H. The skirt, or apron of the table, measures 24.5 H to the floor. This is a great table and would make an amazing centerpiece in your kitchen or dining room. It’s sure to be a conversation starter! We can also recommend a couple of shippers. This is a great table!
