Outsider Original Primitive Fine Folk Art painting mixed media textures and acrylics on wood. Fun, Wonderful, Whimsical, and Colorful Blackbirds, Crows, Birds, Nest and Cherry Tree. ??????? “Family Love “???????? Size 20″H x 20″W x 1D. ????? Crows or Blackbirds, Nest and Cherry Tree???????? My Cherry tree and the visiting Blackbirds and Crows inspired this piece, along with my love of them! I myself have always shared a love for crows since my childhood days of visiting my favorite talking crow at the small zoo we visited as kids! He was my favorite, I could spend hours enjoying him and his limited conversations. I thought that was so. Crows are very intelligent and can remember people and. So this is how this piece came to life! This New Original Framed piece has small jasmine twigs I collected to make the nest, and applied mixed media textures to create the fruit, leaves and tree, as well as the background textures, acrylic paints using a combo of pallet knives & brushes and fine pottery tools for the leaves. The frame is textured also and painted! Looks Much better in person to see the textures and colors better! You can also find more of Danette’s art work Available at American Folkart and Framing Gallery In Asheville, NC. John & Danette Sperry are both full time artist and appreciate you all very much as our collectors! Bio written by one of her galleries that carry her works. Born in 1962, Danette Sperry has been creating some form of art since her childhood. For the last several decades, she has worked as a full-time artist creating sculptures and furniture pieces from salvaged wood & found objects, as well as paintings. In 2015, Danette began experimenting and incorporating textural & relief elements in her paintings. What started as a way to have more freedom to create whatever was in her mind without being limited by her found object work, developed into raised-relief mixed media paintings. The entire process of building the wooden structure, applying & carving the textural elements and painting the images can take weeks and up to several months depending on details size etc, but for Danette, it’s a labor of love. Danette has a spiritual connection to nature, which serves to inspire her work. The beautiful garden she has created around her home and the birds & other creatures that visit her garden are often the focal points of her paintings. Danette often says becoming an artist wasn’t a conscious decision for her, but rather that art chose her. She lives in rural Georgia and calls her house Sperryville, where it’s only a short walk to her studio and the only traffic is the birds. Black American Folk Art Obama Family Painting on Wood by Mary “Mama Girl” Onley. The Obama White House PaintingFolk Art Obama Family painting on wood by Mary “Mama Girl” Onley. 36.5 Inches Wide x 24 Inches Tall. Large African American Folk Art Painting by Pastor. Her lyrical sculptures are similar to papier-mâché, but made without wire, and consist exclusively of newspaper and glue. Born Mary Onley and later renamed Mama-Girl by her grandmother, she came from generations of farm laborers and started working in the fields herself at the age of twelve. “I’ve picked tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, greens, peppers, ” Mama-Girl remembers. You name it, and I’ve done it all. Mama-Girl had to stop working outdoors because of severe allergies, which resulted in numerous hospitalizations. Episode, Mama-Girl reports being visited by a spirit, who instructed her to create art out of paper and other found objects-something she had never attempted before. A little more than twenty years later, Mama-Girl is one of the most celebrated folk artists on the East Coast. Her work has shown at craft shows across the Mid-Atlantic, and is a favorite of many folk art collectors, but she still credits every piece to the spirit who visits her in her studio each day: If the Spirit don’t give it to me, I can’t do it.
