ACEO 2.5 in x 3.5 in (63.5 mm x 88.9 mm). Acrylic and ink on illustration board. E9Art (aka eric) has been a typesetter, tire changer, the coffee dude, that pizza guy, and a full-time artist. Eric didn’t’discover’ art until he was in his 50s, partially due to the idea that he couldn’t be an artist being colorblind, and partially that he was raised in an environment where art was considered a waste of time because’art doesn’t put food on the table. Since his first art sale in 2014, he has been making up for lost time. E9art can be found on twitter, facebook, pinterest and tumblr.

This early painting is an expressive one. Is by ALVA JEAN DEXHEIMER FOLK ARTIST. Alva Gene Dexhimer was born in Clarksburg, Missouri in 1931 and lived in central Missouri his entire life. As a five-year old boy, he fell off a tractor and suffered a severe head injury. This accident led to learning disabilities, which caused him to drop out of school after the eighth grade. Dexhimer constructed in his life time a variety of objects from scrap wood, using only a hammer and a handsaw as tools. Comicbooks with a western theme were among his favorites, and movie cowboys like Gene Autry appear in his work. In 1984, he included Dexhimer’s work in FOLK ART/FOR SALE, an exhibition for the Kansas City Art Institute. Shortly thereafter, his work was included in Deliberate Lives – A Celebration of Three Missouri Masters at First Street Forum in St. Louis, Word and Image in American Folk Art (for the Mid-America Arts Alliance) and The Radiant Object–Self-Taught Artists from the Volkersz Collection which was organized by Montana State University. Complications from this disease led to a stroke and, several months later, to his death at the age of 52 in 1984. Offering a wonderful small size, 19th century, 6 3/4 diameter round wooden pantry box with lid, in a wonderful, early, dark blue painted surface… The box has a wonderful “crazed” worn surface and shows appropriate wear consistent with age. The pantry box is a nice small, heavy gauge example, and has copper tacks and wooden pegs securing the lid band and the overlapping on the box. The pantry box is “signed” / marked on the bottom with the initials J. A WONDERFUL, SMALL PANTRY BOX IN FABULOUS EARLY DARK BLUE PAINTED SURFACE!! DIMENSIONS – 6 3/4″ diameter top, 6 3/8″ diameter bottom, 2 3/4 high.
