AAFA ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE GRAIN MEASURE DOUGH BOWL ORIGINAL PAINT RED SQUARE NAILS. Up for sale is this wonderful oxblood red grain measure or dough bowl!! Can you imagine filling this with grain and then going out to feed the animals and pulling the little slide up and letting some grain out for them? Wow, check out the great look to this one!! It has what appears to be its original paint that is old and dry as well as worn and patina-ed. It’s a dry aged oxblood red. This grain measure is very large and would make a statement centerpiece on your table! 9.75 inches long by 29.5 wide and is about 7.5 inches high at the highest point. The sides are curved in and one end has the slide gate that allows you to lift up the slide and let some grain out. It has old rusty square nails holding it together, how cool! It has some fading, crackling paint, edgewear, streaks, paint loss, paint loss, paint chips. The condition of this is exactly what you want to see in old true antiques! Rare ANTIQUE 19th C NORWAY Wood LG PAINTED ALE BOWL Scandinavian Folk Art #1. May be in the Hallingdal style of painting- not sure though— The colorfully painted wonderfully painted bowl is in good condition throughout, with expected paint loss and wear and/or fading as expected. There is no label nor age details but it is believed and appears to be an older one. It is probably from Wisconsin or Minnesota. We have dealt in Dala horses, roosters and some Swedish bowls – we recently found antique 2 bowls at an antique show and had found1 dated and signed1958 a few years ago. 2 are believed to be from the late 19th C or early 1900s and from Norway. It has Norge painted on each side of the rim top. This one is typically referred to as an Ale Bowl and it is artfully painted and carved with a decoratively carved rim. It is a beautifully painted example with nice age and patina and a nice size one which is perfect for display or as a statement piece. This will make a great example for your Scandinavian or Folk Art collection. We are also listing the other 2 today as well. This one measures approx 14.25″ to outer edge of bowl on the long side and 11.5″ on the shorter side. It is approx 4″ tall and the base measures approx 4.75″ at the base. The paint has all beautifully mellowed and is a very colorful and artistically painted item. The decorated top of the bowl has paint wear as to be expected and it is nicely decorated with floral and classic rosemaling designs. Please see our other auctions for similar items. Best antique wooden fruit would be a Wow on any farm house table have never been a fan of the alabaster fruit so was thrilled to find these wood ones their paint is still vibrant has normal paint loss from age just looks good enough to eat! I have ever seen ones with this good of early paint. All are amazing the apples look like they were nesting apples 14 pieces in all along with an antique very dry bowl it has a great patina and does have a crack you can see in last two pictures but it is sturdy and stable. The bowl is a gorgeous example, with an approx. 5/8 wide outer top rim band and an approx. 1/8 chamfered outer top edge.
