Spectacular 30s 40s Folk Art Deco Vintage Halloween Black Cat Childrens Chair

30s 40s Folk Art Deco Vintage Halloween Black Cat Childrens Chair. I believe this to be from the 30s or 40s, it may possibly be just a little later, but it is definitely vintage, not new. I also believe it to be American in origin. Constructed of painted pine. The cat motif is stylistically reflective of the Art Deco period, age related wear and paint surface crackling is all correct for its age. The elliptical design at the top of the back emulating inlaid veneer appears to be a transfer decal. I have done nothing to it, I have not cleaned it. Excellent all original condition, no touchups or repairs, age related minor wear as shown in a few places. Pretty spectacular overall given its age! Dimensions: 19 inches tall by 13 inches wide by 13 inches deep, seat height is 7 1/2 inches. All original untouched as found, absolutely no in painting. The face of the sign has 2 original mounting holes used to mount sign on post. The sign has been in Northern R. Doctors home for the last sixty years and supposedly came from a Mass/R. Simple google search revealed many Hillhurst farms in existence. This farm may not still exist. The sign has an amazing presence when seen in person. It is a very good piece of early american advertising. Some flaking, small splits everything you expect. Sign fashioned out of original watermelon crate lid. Rare piece of black Americana that you will not find again. The dimension of the sign is 24 inches by 30 inches. Primitive New England Triple Wall Box or Candle Box in Old Black Paint Folk Art

A very nice New England triple wall box in old black paint. This wall box features a traditional style back board of 3/8 pine. The sides and front panels are of thin 3/8 pine. The three front panels are graduated, the bottom being 4″ wide, the center 3″ wide and the top panel 2-1/2 wide which gives it nice proportions. It is fastened with tiny square cut nails. This is a reconstruction or reproduction made from early period wood. The paint is original old paint as is the wear on the edges. The dimensions are: 12″ wide x 18″ tall x 3-3/4 deep. There are paint spatters, nail holes and stains as well. The picture of the back shows a thin strip of wood that has been glued to add a little more strength to the upper back.
