The beautiful scene features a young boy taking a drink of water from a bucket he has hoisted from the well. His two canine companions are also eager for refreshment. Agate studied under Samuel F. Morse at the National Academy of Fine Arts in New York City. In overall very good condition. It is professionally relined at the back. There is crackling to the paint surface throughout. This condition is consistent with age and method of display/storage. The frame is 23 1/2″ x 19 1/4″ with a sight view of 17 5/8″ x 13 3/4″. The stretcher is 18 1/4″ x 14 1/4″.
