This is a very unique piece of art, painted on wood with oil. The rawness of the wood, adds another layer to the already naive, folk art style. I originally bought it from the artist as a fundraiser for his disease, and as I’m downsizing my life, I would like it to go to a new home. The actual dimensions are 11×12 inches.

Mexican Folk Art Contortionist Skeletons Oaxacan Florentino Fuentes Wood Carving
This is a delightful piece of outstanding vintage folk art created by Florentino Fuentes of Oaxaca, Mexico. It’s an amazing conglomeration of contortionist skeletons hand-carved from copal wood. Fabulous and really well done this piece came to me from a private collection. It measures approximately 11 1/2″ in height, 9″ in length by 4 in depth and is signed. Frame has a fair amount of finish wear and loss to the green paint. The frame measures 34 1/2″ x 16″. The painting measures 30″ x 12 1/2″. Failure to read full description may result in delays and misunderstandings. I do not set rates and can’t afford to absorb these costs, being a small operation.

I think the theme is hairstyles. I cannot tell you as much about them as I would like to. The estate from which I got them left no living aficionados of Outsider. (or it’s also sometimes called Naive Art or Folk Art). Of the several pieces of Outsider Art I have gotten from this estate, this is the one (this one set of 3) that has most interested Outsider Art dealers and people who DO know what they’re talking about in Chicago. One of those people is one of the people who started Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outside Art. Everyone has told me to sell them together, as a triptych.
