“SANDY” 1973 by Luis German Cajiga – one of the artist’s Most Iconic works – Catalogued. PA – Prueba de Artista – unique A. Artist Proof 1 of 1. Printed, retouched, and signed by the Artist. Professionally matted and framed in natural cherry wood. Artwork is 24″ x 18″. Frame is 32″ x 26″. No damage or fading. Vintage collector’s brochure included. SANDY the orange peeler was a real person. Passers by like me remember this endearing, resilient, and inspiring figure of Puerto Rican folklore. A friend of Cajiga’s from the Gold Gym, I obtained this work in 1980 directly from the artist at the original Cajiga Studio across from the piers in Old San Juan. I begged and pulled the friend card, and Cajiga, always generous, let me acquire it with a painful frown and an entrusting smile. I have enjoyed it for 40+ years, and it’s time to pass it on and put it out there in the world. I hope it goes to a good home, collector, or museum. This item is in the category “Art\Paintings”.
