Original SIgned Folk Art Carving of Maine Whaler Whirligig 1919. From the estate of a collector on the Maine coast, this is a another great little wood folk carving. The Sailer or Whaler has a great painted face with a carved nose, hat, black boots, and early traditional clothes of a whaler – wonderful colorful paint decoration. Great folk art work and display piece. Under his black hat he has long black hair on the back that looks like it came from a paint brush. The sailor/whaler paddles are firmly attached and can be positioned at different angles. The Great little Sailor Whirlygig is mounted on a small wood base. On the bottom of the base it says “carved by Adolph Haugh, 1919″. The Antique Whaler Whirlygig measures 12.5″ tall, 14″ tall to top of paddle. Nice size for display.
