This is a stunning Jimmy Lee Sudduth mud painting, in excellent condition. Painted on wood board, the piece measures 24″x24″. It is signed on the front. Glitter in her earrings, color and the texture of the mud are vivid. Jimmy Lee Sudduth is a renowned outsider artist, especially recognized for his colorful mud paintings. Sudduth’s work is in many private collections around the world and in the permanent collection the Fayette Art Museum in Fayette, Alabama. He passed away in 2007 at the age of 97. PETI CLEMENTS African American Folk Art Paintings; a very nice painting from Petites Peti on Canvas Signed. 8″ by 10.5″ with frame. Peti Clements lived and worked in Birmingham, AL and these were probably painted in the 1970’s to early to mid 1980’s time frame. Clement was raised on a rural Alabama farm and many of her works depict the scenes of her early everyday life. The Tennessee Valley Art Museum has a wonderful collection in their permanent collection. Clements was born on August 6, 1911 and died November 25, 19999, but her art lives on.
