This vintage lizard / alligator is of natural unfinished wood with black paint. The paint finish is aged. The spots are scraped-out patches from the black pigment. 5 inches at widest part of the body. About 4 inches high. Four articulated feet – poseable. The feet are attached with old round-head nails. Framed under early glass, with its original wood backboard, this is a rare American Victorian era? Folk art memorial painting. It comes in its 12 x 16 wooden frame. It depicts a woman in distress over the death of Sarah Bennett. In the backround are weeping willow trees, as well as other mourners in the cemetery along with a cathedral in the back round. The white marble memorial is marked To The Memory of Sarah Bennett who died April 12-1837 aged 39. We did some research on the internet and found that Sarah Bennett (married to John Bennett) was born to John and Bethiah Clark on June 27, 1798. Sarah is buried in North Rochester Cemetery in Rochester Ma. There are foxing stains on the picture, and the backboard also shows a large foxing? There are old nails holding the backboard in place. The frame size is 12 X 16 and the print size is 9X 13. It looks like it is a watercolor, but this is speculation as I do not know anything about art. Jere nautical themed folk art piece. The whale is made of a heavy solid metal or lead. The board looks to be hand painted. Really a different style piece from the typical C. Jere works I’ve seen. Measurements 20″ tall x 14 1/8″ wide. It has a few small dings in the corners and some lighter wear from age. The green spacers were added to keep the whale from hitting the wood. We will try our best to describe the items accurately. We try our best to initially clean what we can, but some fabrics or items (due to age) are left as found. Antique Shaker Style Finger Banded Folk Art Painted Firkin Pantry Bucket, Signed. Nice handpainted folk art New England Firkin pantry bucket. The paint work has a nice age and patina to it. Signed on the bottom E. The bucket is in good structural condition with 2 finger bands on the bottom portion and 1 finger band around the lid. There is no upper band. It may have had one (there are some nail holes) and was remove prior to painting. Theres a few small areas where the paint has been scuffed and general overall wear which adds to its appeal. The inside has some staining and smells like a tobacco drying barn (sweet tobacco smell). Measures approximately 10 tall and 10 across the lid. The base being wider is 11 1/6 across. The inside dimensions is 8 5/8 deep by 8 11/16 across. Please send me a message to start the return process. I respond to messages very quickly. This is a wonderful, antique carving of a man’s hand. It was most likey from a sign or some sort of store display. It looks as if it originally held something between it’s fingers. There are 2 small rubber headed tacks on the thumb & fore finger. There are 4 small holes on the reverse. Not sure what they were for… It measures 9 1/2″ Long by 5″ wide and 7/8 thick.
