Apx 1940s Nearly 2 ft long.. Apx 23″x14″x7 , weighs apx 8 lbs , very solid.. I believe this was a collectors rocker for antique dolls. An amazing conversation piece!!!! We have just enjoyed up on a tall cabinet counter in our game room.. Has a lot of aging/ historical wear showing but nothing major.. All hand carved and painted I was told.. Was told this originally came from a circus toy collector, they owned several pieces for at least 10-20 yrs before offered. This was old when they obtained.. And I’m not sure how to tell.. There is some chipping and peeling in different places as you can see from the pictures and is been like that for as long as we’ve had it.. It feels like wood and it sounds like wood but please use the pictures for your own judgment. The head was a separate piece.. Nice mid 19th century leather fire bucket with early paint and lots of character the name M. Peaslee painted in gold on bucket , which means this was a bucket that a home owner would have in their home as their civil duty to be part of the “bucket brigade” someone in the town would signal the home owners and everyone would help try to put out ones fire , was typical to have your name painted on your bucket so when you were done you could get your bucket back. I had this looked at by a serious collector for their opinion was told Circa 1840’s-1860’s Origin more then likely Philadelphia by the shape and size and way it was made. Condition : paint is original, a lot of surface cracks on leather and in paint , on one side the hoop that attaches the handle to the bucket has split over the years so only one side of the handle is attached, can be fixed if wanted to by a leather worker , there is a crack on the front of bucket and has been repaired in the same time period this was made please look at all pictures. This scroll painting, depicts Hindu god Krishna with his eternal lover Radha and a gopika (maid) in the background, painted in a similar style to the Kalighat paintings produced during the 19th century. H 53 cm, W 33 cm. Patachitra (Patua) known for its brilliant play of colours, is a folk art form of rural Bengal that has been in existence for many centuries. The word Pata from the Sanskrit word Patta meaning cloth. Patachitra are charactrised by religious or social motifs and images painted with vegetable dyes fixed with a vegetable gum on paper and fabric from old saris is glued to the back to strengthen the scroll. Rained in the traditional Patua form of folk art by her father and uncle, hails from West Bengal in India. This offering is for a wonderful Folk Art Bird Cage, possibly French. The cage is made of wood and wire and it retains its original blue green paint. The condition of both the cage and the paint surface are very good with some paint chipping and no obvious damage. It can be used for holding birds as intended or for décor. It has two tight wire doors, a wire swing at the top and an opening for a tray at the bottom. It is shown from all sides. The color has a little more green to it than shows up on my monitor.
