Please review photos as the details clearly show the condition of this piece. This scene is of a hunt occurring. There are some wrinkles and slight decay as is expected with an ephemeral piece such as this. The frame appears to be early 20th Century and has some chips as also can be seen in the photos. This item was part of an exhibition in the 1950s at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Refer to: “Hat Boxes and Band Boxes” at the Shelburne Museum, VT. Schrank, German Hand Painted 1700’s Antique Folk Art Dowry Armoire or Cabinet. An authentic “Schrank” or folk art armoire or closet was hand carved and painted in southern Germany during the 1700’s. A traditional dowry gift to a wedding couple, there are faint monograms “HS” inside a laurel wreath. The graining and delicate painting has had restorations over the centuries, and has been preserved with clear varnish. Hand crafted of pine with wooden pegs and hand hammered faceted nails, every surface has hand planing marks from a skilled country carpenter. There are shrinkage separations from age. The crown and feet were restored many years ago. The door has a wonderful hand wrought iron open lock and key that still work. Inside, the adjustable shelves on the left are later, right shelves are about 100 years old but not original. Measurements are 47 1/2″ wide, 26″ deep and 65 tall. Vintage Folk Art Painted Corn Roadside Stand Trade Sign

This is a wonderful piece of Folk Art or painted art from a roadside stand in Indiana. This ear of corn is hand painted on an old wooden ironing board and was hung on a wall as a trade sign for a corn farm stand. This is a unique one of a kind piece of art. The sign dates from somewhere in the early to mid 20th century and is in wonderful condition. The surface shows some age and the mounting holes show very wear which indicates that the sign would have been taken down in the off season. The ear of corn is 53 7/8″ tall x 15″ wide and could be hung both vertically or horizontally. Like us on face book. Orlando Hand Bears American Portrait Sag Harbor NY Hamptons c1835 Folk Art RARE

Portrait attributed to Orlando Hand Bears depicting Andrew J. Case, the son of Col. Benjamin Case, who was in command of the American forces at Sag Harbor during the War of 1812 and later Postmaster. Andrew was born in 1817, so it would put him at 20 years old in 1837, which matches up with most of Bears works. Descended directly in the Case family. Lot includes a double half plate daguerreotype depicting Case and his wife at a later date. Attribution has been confirmed by a Long Island curator who is considered an authority on Bears work. The Daguerreotype shows Case wearing a similar watch key, but I have also found this same watch key in other Bears’ portraits, such as the one of Mrs. Never restored or relined. Years of grime, would benefit a great deal from a professional cleaning. Minneapolis Institute of Art. Condition: Some losses along the lower edge of the canvas.
