This painting is in Excellent Condition with very slight and faint foxing to the paper and slight wear to the wood frame. The painting measures 10 5/8″ x 9″ x 3/4″ at the outer frame, the showing painting measures 8″ x 6 1/4 and together with frame and glass weighs approximately 15.2oz. The painting is signed: The Female Academy in Christiansburg May 15th, 1856, the bottom is signed: the teachers, Mifs, and Mrs. Wonderful detail throughout with great subtle colors along with brighter white, it appears to be oil paint on 7 of the teacher’s dresses, the leg of the man on horseback, and on the picket fence. His work is found in numerous museums. A wonderful small Watercolor of his work, this Original Lewis Miller Painting would make a great addition to anyone’s collection or home.
