This vintage lizard / alligator is of natural unfinished wood with black paint. The paint finish is aged. The spots are scraped-out patches from the black pigment. 5 inches at widest part of the body. About 4 inches high. Four articulated feet – poseable. The feet are attached with old round-head nails. Vintage c. 1983 C. Jere Nautical Folk Art Metal Whale Painted Ocean Scene MCM

Jere nautical themed folk art piece. The whale is made of a heavy solid metal or lead. The board looks to be hand painted. Really a different style piece from the typical C. Jere works I’ve seen. Measurements 20″ tall x 14 1/8″ wide. It has a few small dings in the corners and some lighter wear from age. The green spacers were added to keep the whale from hitting the wood. This offering is for a wonderful Folk Art Bird Cage, possibly French. The cage is made of wood and wire and it retains its original blue green paint. The condition of both the cage and the paint surface are very good with some paint chipping and no obvious damage. It can be used for holding birds as intended or for décor. It has two tight wire doors, a wire swing at the top and an opening for a tray at the bottom. It is shown from all sides. The color has a little more green to it than shows up on my monitor. Vintage folk art oil painting nautical seascape Oregon artist Robert Whitsell

Vintage oil painting by Oregon artist Robert Whitsell. This charming folk art-inspired seascape shows a scene from Pacific Northwest nautical history, the schooner Nena-Mosha anchored in Siletz Bay on the Oregon coast in 1912. The painting itself is most likely from the 1960s-1970s. This is presented in its original wooden frame, which is quite handsome, professionally prepared, and complements the painting very well. On the back of the canvas is a label describing the historical significance of the scene. The frame measures 19″ x 23″, and the canvas measures 16″ x 20″. What little I know about the artist is through a brief conversation with his granddaughter. He was a very prolific painter of landscapes and genre scenes inspired by Pacific Northwest history. He might have had some gallery representation in Salem, Oregon. Condition: The canvas has some tiny rough spots in an isolated area – it’s either abrasion or just inconsistency in the paint application. I can find no other problems with the painting itself. Bornemisza (Bornemisza) Laszlo Tiszadada , Hungary May 22, 1910.. Budapest, Hungary 22 May 1995, painter, graphic artist. After literary attempts, in 1940, at age 30 decided to focus on graphic art. The Second World War he served as a war correspondent in Lviv and attended the Krakow Academy. Between 1946 and 1952 he worked for the city of Debrecen apparatus of public education. He founded The Free Trade Union of Artists and from 1952 he lived in Budapest. In 1961, he became a freelance artist. He made visits in 1960 in Poland, in 1962, Italy, Finland, in 1964, and won a scholarship to the annual Swedish government between 1965-66. After departure from post-impressionist influence of Western European experience, he developed a distinctive style, which in the’60s rose to the forefront of Hungarian art. His art consisted of the imagination and reality. He also won considerable success as an illustrator. Many of his works can be found in public collections in Hungary, Poland and Finland. This sparkling oil on Masonite from the 1960s-70s measures an important 27 ½ x 35 ½ framed; 24 x 32 actual and is singed lower right H. Obin Cap Haitien, as shown. Entitled Ces Heros Sur Le Lieu DUn Rende-Vous, the work depicts 7 men in colonial garb (along with horses) in front of a walled estate with elaborate iron gates. Based on the heros who were the founding fathers of Haiti, (most likely Henri Christophe, Jean-Jacques Dessalines and Alexandre Petion) Obin is also keen to include the fanciful colonial architecture for which cap Haitien is best known. The drawing is precise and the coloring is brilliant. Working both in Haiti and New York City, he created his often historically inspired fanciful depictions of his cultural heritage drawn from his highly personal imagination. This work, one of his largest and pre-dating his NYC residence, is in good stable condition with a fine scratch in the sky upper right and stable paint with minor dirt. 30s 40s Folk Art Deco Vintage Halloween Black Cat Childrens Chair. I believe this to be from the 30s or 40s, it may possibly be just a little later, but it is definitely vintage, not new. I also believe it to be American in origin. Constructed of painted pine. The cat motif is stylistically reflective of the Art Deco period, age related wear and paint surface crackling is all correct for its age. The elliptical design at the top of the back emulating inlaid veneer appears to be a transfer decal. I have done nothing to it, I have not cleaned it. Excellent all original condition, no touchups or repairs, age related minor wear as shown in a few places. Pretty spectacular overall given its age! Dimensions: 19 inches tall by 13 inches wide by 13 inches deep, seat height is 7 1/2 inches.
