This early painting is an expressive one. Is by ALVA JEAN DEXHEIMER FOLK ARTIST. Alva Gene Dexhimer was born in Clarksburg, Missouri in 1931 and lived in central Missouri his entire life. As a five-year old boy, he fell off a tractor and suffered a severe head injury. This accident led to learning disabilities, which caused him to drop out of school after the eighth grade. Dexhimer constructed in his life time a variety of objects from scrap wood, using only a hammer and a handsaw as tools. Comicbooks with a western theme were among his favorites, and movie cowboys like Gene Autry appear in his work. In 1984, he included Dexhimer’s work in FOLK ART/FOR SALE, an exhibition for the Kansas City Art Institute. Shortly thereafter, his work was included in Deliberate Lives – A Celebration of Three Missouri Masters at First Street Forum in St. Louis, Word and Image in American Folk Art (for the Mid-America Arts Alliance) and The Radiant Object–Self-Taught Artists from the Volkersz Collection which was organized by Montana State University. Complications from this disease led to a stroke and, several months later, to his death at the age of 52 in 1984. Original Swedish Dala Horse. Large: about 10inch high. Very good condition, but some same mark on the – please check pictures. Most of the Dala horse come without signature or year, but this one is signed and dated. Comes from swedish family, where grandfather was doing Vasaloppet. V asaloppet (swedish for’the Vasa-race’) is an annual long distance cross-country ski race held on the first Sunday of March. As he was parcipiating in several ski race, now some of those dala horse is for sale. Please check my other listing for another color and year. Swedish Dala Horses are perhaps the most recognizable horse in the world and have a wonderful history and story behind their creation. It doesn’t get any more Swedish than this! The horses are handcrafted, and the timber comes from the slowly growing pine forests around Siljan in central Sweden. Handpainted by artisans, each horse is unique. Adirondack Village of Clintonville, NY Vintage Folk Art oil Painting

This is a cute vintage almost-Folk Art type of oil painting that was done on artist masonite board by listed artist Ruth Mould (1894 – 1979) – the painting was done in the 1960’s – 1970’s. Was created with the viewer looking up a rural & curvy Route 9N in the village of Clintonville, New York in the Adirondack region where Route9N is leading to the famous Au Sable Forks where the Rome River branches into the Au Sable River. This appears to be in the late fall season where the artist has depicted all of the trees in the foreground as having muted shades of dark yellow & orange colors – all of the grass & ground foliage on both sides of the road have turned various shades of brown & gray colors – we see in the center & center right of the painting an old farm with various outbuildings which Mould has painted with a palette of muted & subtle red, yellow, white & blue colors to depict the farm buildings as weather-beaten as they would be considering their location in the Adirondacks. In the background, the artist shows two mountains with rounded tops which she has painted with very pale & muted blue & off-white colors which create a sense of distance & depth between the mountains & the Au Sable Chasm where Route 9N is going – specks of off-white color on the tops of the mountains suggest some snowfall already at the highest elevations. The painting measures 12″ x 16″ sigh size, & is in very good condition for its vintage age – it was very well kept by its former owner – the gray colored wooden frame is original to the painting selected by the artist herself – it measures 15″ x 19″, & is also in very good condition for its vintage age.
