A unique folk art Child’s horse tree swing. Made of wood with original paint. You could swing front and back on the swing. Very good used condition, missing peg for feet and hands but can hang nicely on a wall or used as a shelf. The swing is 38″ long x 35″ high and 2 3/4″ thick, the seat is 22 1/4″ long x 2 3/4 wide. Signed Anne Wiest Pennsylvania Folk Art Theorem Painted on Fabric Birds in Tree
Recent North Carolina estate sale find. This listing is for an absolutely beautiful 1980’s Theorem signed by the artist, Anne Wiest. Looks to be a hand painted original frame with the piece under glass. We did not open the back of the paper sealed frame; however, there is a small rip on the backer paper most likely from another frame leaning against the piece. Has absolutely no impact to the piece nor the presentation as this is simply construction paper on the back-side. Under glass, it looks as if the work was painted on a cotton fabric, which would be typical of Anne’s works. Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or stains to the frame (only an insignificant and tiny mark or two) and the Theorem itself is in outstanding condition. Please review all photos for overall condition, design, and dimensions. Anne was born in Plymouth, Pa. The daughter of the William and Clara James. She married Carlos Wiest and moved to. Was very well-known for her theorem paintings, community involvement in the arts and education and participated in the Bicentennial Arts and Crafts show held in Philadelphia in 1976. Antique Folk Art Hall Tree Maine c. 1860s Great Old Paint Make Do AAFA
Folk art hall tree / painted wood, repurposed materials / Maine / c. Whimsical antique painted folk art hall tree in green and gold, Maine, c. The piece is composed of a back board cut from a single plank in an eccentric silhouette onto which found and repurposed elements were attached to fashion a hat and coat rack. The radiating turned arms originate from a late 18th or early 19th century yarn winder or spinning wheel, as do the capped dowel hooks and turned feet. At its waist is mounted a mysterious birdhouse-like box with a indicator intended to spin, its purpose unknown perhaps a conveniently-placed penny bank if change remained in your coat pocket? The hall tree is painted a brilliant emerald green with gold stencil embellishments and borders. A fun and playful piece of folk art furniture to brighten your entryway, equally at home in traditional and modern environments. Very good antique condition. The spinning wheel arm hooks are attached at the hub with the original iron bolt and are secured by an additional screw or two and the back (as seen in the photos). Folk Art Bird Tree, hand-carved and painted by H. Michener
A whimsical hand-carved and painted folk art bird tree by H. Michener, who has been carving and painting birds, snakes, turtles and other animals for over 30 years. The birds are individually carved, wings are of metal and some have horse hair crests. All are one-of-a kind. The topper is his “bumblebee bird” as he calls it. He has said there won’t be many more bird trees because arthritis is making it to difficult to carve. This one stands 28 tall and has great presence.
