19th Century Folk Art Bridge Windmill Mill Town Dusk Painting Lemon Gold Frame

Antique 19th century, c1860s, original oil painting of an eye catching folk art townscape at dusk. Depicts a riverside mill town complete with buildings, Windmill and old stone bridge arching over a gently cascading waterfall. Presumably a New England scene. Medium is oil on canvas done in a folk art style. Framed in its original lemon gold gesso and wood frame and ready to hang. Very intriguing and worthy of further research. Provenance comes from a Keene, New Hampshire area estate. In Good overall condition. Exhibits gentle cracking and soiling. No holes, rips, tears or indents. Frame shows gentle chipping and loss to the gesso at the corners. Eye catching and appealing. Measures 15 1/4″ x 12 1/4″ and 19 1/4″ x 16 1/4″ with the frame. All reasonable offers considered. Vintage American Original Folk Art Landscape Painting Farm Town Modern Cottage. Autumn in New England!! This is one of my favorite finds in recent years! Perfect for Cottage-core , Mid century modern or traditional decor. A beautiful piece of Americana 20th Century expressionistic realism. Very charming town center scene.. Dont be fooled by the common approach , take a look at that tree trunk and shadow.. Against the white of the clapboard church. Pure Mid-Atlantic/ North East aesthetics. Un-signed, great size at 24×21 (outside dimensions on the frame). Frame is beautiful aged patina White Oak with nice flat finish. Painting is done on board and Im guessing by the looks of it , its mid- century 40s-60s? But Im not sure. Up for sale is a rare antique 19th century original Johannes Olsen Folk Art oil painting. It can possibly even be a bit earlier. It depicts a mother and father standing by their two children infant of a small red brick school. There is a raised flag in the foreground and is signed by Olsen on the bottom right. The painting is set in a stunning handmade wooden frame that is painted and engraved to look like old brick. It measures 22 3/4 inches by 17 1/4 inches framed. It does have some ware, crackling, and some paint loss as seen in last photo. The canvas also needs to be re-stretched as it is a bit wavy.
