An interesting hand painted sign advertising something for rent. The wording is unique as is the composition, hand painted on plywood with an applied old wooden picture frame. The white paint has yellowed with age and there is a crude outline on the for rent letters of a gold paint. The sign is a nice size for display, 24″ long x 13 3/4″ high and 1/2 thick. CAFE FIGARO ANTIQUE AAFA WOODEN PAINTED ADVERTISING TRADE SIGN SAN FRANCISCO? Up for sale is this wonderful old painted sign. We don’t know the age of this sign but it looks old to us, you make the call. It’s painted and has an old white / oyster white background with red letters. It’s a wood sign and the top part (possibly all of it) appears to be plywood. It’s worn and faded in places, and a little dirty around the edges perhaps, but it has a great look to it and a wonderful old look. It’s double sided and the back side is about the same except that it also has a wire to hang the sign up by. 19.75 inches wide by 17 inches high by 1.75 inches deep at the trim and 3/4 inches deep at the main sign. It’s a great sign! It has some fading, crackling paint, edge-wear, paint loss, wood missing, paint chips. Description & Condition: Up for sale is this antique circa 1930-40 folk art painted wooden speed limit street sign. It reads ” SPEED LIMIT 25 Miles Per Hour Per Order Chief of Police”. It has some surface grime and light wear from weathering and 3 vertical holes from mounting but is really in pretty good condition. It measures 23″ by 11 1/2″. Antique 19th C Trade Sign. This is an awesome 19th C English Tavern or Trade sign. 16 at widest point. The backing is wood and then it is built up or layered with what appears to be Gesso or some sort of composite material, that has then been painted. The Dog is dimensional and has texture. He is beautifully painted and the photos do not do him justice. There are no marks on the Sign anywhere. Note there are 4 small chips and some crazing and cracking which only make him more handsome! Nice old hand painted sign from South Thomaston, Maine featuring black hand lettering on a light grey background. This sign came from the side of a large box. Some of the molding has been added to the sides and the top edge. The bottom edge molding is original. The paint is honest and original old paint. The sign is rough and not professionally painted. The wood is pine and it is very thin and light and will display nicely on the wall. Constructed from two boards, the bottom board has a slight warp and the painter has painted right over the imperfection.
