The painting has been presented in a contemporary grey frame. From a collection of works depicting Newlyn School harbour scenes, painted by the same hand. Much of the collection captures naïve boats, coastal landscapes and still life studies. A selection of works stray into more abstract territory, resembling the work of Cornish painter Matthew Lanyon. Up for sale is a rare antique 19th century original Johannes Olsen Folk Art oil painting. It can possibly even be a bit earlier. It depicts a mother and father standing by their two children infant of a small red brick school. There is a raised flag in the foreground and is signed by Olsen on the bottom right. The painting is set in a stunning handmade wooden frame that is painted and engraved to look like old brick. It measures 22 3/4 inches by 17 1/4 inches framed. It does have some ware, crackling, and some paint loss as seen in last photo. The canvas also needs to be re-stretched as it is a bit wavy.
