This offering is for an antique circa 1930’s to 40’s folk art hand painted sign. The sign reads COUNTY RECORDER on one side only and it appears to have been connected to a post at some point. The length is app. 16″ long and 12″ high. The sign is made of heavy metal which I think is probably sheet iron. The condition is excellent as seen in our photo’s with no bends, breaks, dents or repairs. The painted surfaces have minor losses as should be expected but nothing severe. She is carved in jointed pine wood. Her face with red lips and piercing gaze is hand painted. Dark hair, white gloves and stockings are also hand painted. Mother most have been very artistic. She does not sit due to straight legs andhips. She has mitten hands and defined feet but no individualized toes. Herdress is old and fits well but probably not original to her. She has oldpantaloons and petticoat with added white apron and brown stockings. She isstuffed very firmly and body is solid. The painting was done in oils on tin and measures app. 7″ X 5″ The artwork features a view of Santa Rita typically holding a skull in one hand and a crucifix in the other. She has a small halo above her head and very nicely done wispy clouds behind her. The condition is excellent with very very minor wear and tiny losses to the surface with one small nail hole at the top center. There are no dents, creases or bends.
