This is a beautifully proportioned miniature blanket chest in early grain painted surface. The dimensions are: 13″ wide x 8″ tall x 5-1/4 deep (front to back). It features tiny square cut nail construction, delicate top and bottom moldings, a beautifully cut-out base, brass hinges, and the original lock box. The surface is guaranteed old and original. Up for your consideration is one of my favorites of all time. This little miniature painted chest is just the sweetest little primitive thing ever. Original snipe hinges this six board chest i believe is yellow pine but not sure so look at the photos you may be able to tell. It has the boot jack sides and red ground with vibrant black decoration. This chest is signed inside the top to a little girl. It reads: for my sweet Sarah McInturff Carter County Tennessee 1807. Carter County is in the far east corner of Tennessee close to the Virginia, North Carolina Border. Tennessee was made a state in 1796. This is so early and special.. Painted pieces are very rare here in the south anyone who collects southern antiques and folk art will know what a real little treasure this is. It has the most wonderful surface and has been kept well because those snipe hinges break easily and they are intact. I have to downsize so in the next few weeks I will be posting some great pieces of folk art and antiques, check out my other auctions and check back next week. It was painted in old gold paint with the original lemon gold surface underneath the gold paint. The painting is in good condition and measures 5 3/4h x 4 1/2w with frame. Beautiful little paint decorated miniature blanket chest or document box. The paint decoration is similar to one found in New York State. The box features a unique painted pattern on the front and sides in shades of salmon, red, green and yellow. It has wire hinges, a till inside, a nice base molding and delicately turned legs. This is a quality reconstruction made from old vintage poplar and pine. The back is unpainted. There is damage to the inside back edge of the top. (See photo) The dimensions are: 9-3/4″ wide x 5-1/4″ tall x 3-1/2 deep (front to back). There are scrapes and small dents. This is a very nice miniature chest. Beautiful miniature blanket chest or document box in old red paint. The paint on this chest is original old wine red paint with the exception of the end cuts that were color matched. It has brass hinges, a nice little rectangular escutcheon (non functioning), and a molded top panel. The dimensions are: 9-5/8″ wide x 5-7/8″ tall x 4 deep (front to back). This is a reconstruction made from old original painted pine and tiny square cut nails. There are scrapes and paint spatters on the front and top panels. A very nice small size.
