This decorative, probably mid to late 20th century, painting is executed in oil on cardboard and is of a simple Sockeye Salmon with signature “Lehtonen” in the lower right. The framing is pretty modern and unsophisticated. Condition: Good condition, not extremely old. Height 13 Inches 33.0 cm. Width 24 Inches 61.0 cm. Depth 1/2 Inches 1.3 cm. Antique Primitive Fishing Lure Folk Art Jointed Hand Painted Fish Decoy. I’m pleased to offer this large and very early 3-hook jointed pike fishing lure. 3-pc carved wood body and jointed with forged iron straps and square rivet pins. Retains it’s original hardware and hand painted design. Crackle surface patina and traces of original gold leaf. Probably 19th century, a true work of folk art Americana! Unknown maker but clearly from a master workshop. Likely a small regional maker and produced in scarce numbers. Has terrific hand painted detailing along with a great carved out “GONE FISHING” on one side only. Does have hanging eye hooks installed on top side of fish. It measures approximately 19 3/4 inches length by 5 3/4 inches height by 1 1/2 inches thick. It has wonderful folk art appeal. It is in great vintage condition.
