Rare 1800 American Folk Art Penny Doll, Carved Wood, Painted Face Original Smock

She is carved in jointed pine wood. Her face with red lips and piercing gaze is hand painted. Dark hair, white gloves and stockings are also hand painted. The lovely smock she wears is hand sewn with. Tiny stitches and embellished with a fine lace ruff, sleeves and hem. In original as found condition with some. This rare early survivor would be neat in any doll or Americana collection. Her head iscompletely oil painted and she has rosy cheeks, red open mouth with littleteeth! Her hair is a lovely dark blond and overall, she is captivating andbeautifully painted. Mother most have been very artistic. She does not sit due to straight legs andhips. She has mitten hands and defined feet but no individualized toes. Herdress is old and fits well but probably not original to her. She has oldpantaloons and petticoat with added white apron and brown stockings. She isstuffed very firmly and body is solid. This is an early 16 1/2 inch American Cloth doll with oil painted head. The seam runs down both sides and down the back of the head. The hair and facial features are very nicely painted. The body is cloth with separately stitched fingers. Painted areas show wear, but is all original. Dressed in her original hand stitched dress, apron and socks have been replaced. OOAK Folk Art Halloween Handmade Painted Face Pretty Witch Doll Black Cat Mask

One of a kind folk art handcrafted Halloween witch doll was made by a Pennsylvania folk artist. The witch can sit or hang on a wall. The witch has a hand painted face in the style of Joe Spencer dolls. She has light brown hair and big brown eyes. She has a fabulous black cat mask that fits over her face. She can be posed with the mask on, off or partially on her face. Looks great every way. She’s holding a round rattle on a wire that reads to “Boo”. The rattle is trimmed with shiny orange tinsel. Her green cardboard hat is also trimmed with shiny orange tinsel. Please note there are some spots of worn paint on the back of the hat. Please refer to photos. Her dress and long bloomers are made of various pattern Halloween fabrics primarily in shades of green, orange and yellow. Her legs, arms, and face are made to look aged. Her legs are orange and white stripes. Her shoes are painted like black ballet flats. This witch doll measures approximately 24 long (not including hat). Hat is approximately 5 high. Her scary black cat mask is awesome all by itself. The fabric painted mask measures approximately 6″ x 6″. Excellent used condition from a smoke free home.
