Great Early 20th Century Painted Wood Parcheesi Folk Art Game Board
A fantastic example of early American folk art. A primitive painted parcheesi game board. Painted on an old cutting board. Likely dates to the first quarter of the 20th century. Old and original paint and patina. No paint in the cracks. The cracks visible are separations in the joints of the board. It would be an easy fix if someone chose to re-glued the joints. Please examine the pics carefully. They tell the story. Measures 17″ by 19″. The item “Great Early 20th Century Painted Wood Parcheesi Folk Art Game Board” is in sale since Tuesday, April 23, 2019. This 15 tall (11 ¼ without base) middle to late 1700s carved and painted wood saint boasts wonderfully grungy, untouched surface with soot accretions and crazing from YEARS near candles. He is missing his hands (carved separately) and glass eyes. Near the base, he is a bit soft from old (inactive) insect damage and he is loose on his exceptional polychrome carved wood plinth/pedestal. He needs to be handled gently, and has terrific presence. Precious hard to find early painted wooden ark large size 20″ long 13″ tall and 6 wide it has the best better sweet paint all orig. What I love about is is the sliding door no straps on top. The sliding door shuts well when completely closed but does not stay in place unless it is closed. There are 72 animals total ranges from 5″ for giraffe down to 4″& 3 and below the animals in the first pictures have all there legs may have small imperfections missing ears or tail but mostly really good cond. 55 total of those. Then in last pic there are 17 animals that have repairs with a bondo putty materiel but well done. These are getting harder to find and with this many animals great find. AAFA FOLK ART ANTIQUE WOOD CABINET CUPBOARD OLD WHITE PAINT SQUARE NAILS EARLY. Up for sale is this old antique 2 door cupboard/cabinet. This a cute sized cabinet with great character. It’s probably from the early 1900’s or maybe 1800’s and would make a great little side cabinet or accent piece. It’s a nice white white color with some green undertones and the paint is in places chippy, old and worn with great patina! Inside it’s a cream color with black edges on the shelves. On the doors, there is this cute little handprint in black on the inside of each door. The sides and front are white with awesome patina, crackled paint and green undertones under the chippy white paint areas. The top may have been painted but is worn and not painted now, perhaps from years of wear and use. It’s stained and cracked, spotted and partially painted. There are square nails in the top and back as you can see in the pictures. Some are even rose-headed a little on the back. The back is made up of 6 old boards and a rusty old metal repair that was used to cover a mousehole as you can see on the inside pictures. What a great look!! As for the hardware, the hinges are little Shaker style hinges and are a little rusty. There’s a latch and loop on the front that keeps the doors closed although not tightly. It’s very unique and one of a kind! It’s a super sweer size and could go just about anywhere, like in a bathroom, hallway, end table, etc. As mentioned, there’s some paint loss, nicks, scrapes, scratches, worn edges, deteriorated wood, and dings. All of these “issues” are just as you’d expect from an item of this age. This is a great cabinet! 33″ W x 15″ D x 29.25 H. The wood is thick and is 1 thick at the legs and it weighs a 48. Thank you for looking at this item! We regularly put up new items so check out our other items. We will do our best to answer your questions. We will handle them on a case-by-case basis. ANTIQUE OLD RAILROAD TRAIN WOOD WALL CABINET ORIGINAL DRY PAINT SQUARE NAILS! Up for sale is this very nice old wall cabinet. It’s aged and worn in all the right Primitive ways! It has one door and lots of shelves inside, with some that are removable. The cabinet was made with square nails as you can see from the closeup pictures. The nails are in the top. It has heavy old Shaker style hinges and hardware with a wooden door pull. We think that this probably dates this cabinet to the 1800’s and perhaps it was an old railroad cabinet. We don’t know the age of this cabinet so you make the call. The door has a big crack in it on the front, and there are some scrapes, nicks, and cracks in the top of it (although you can’t see the top if you hang it on the wall above eye level). The color is a dark drab grey-green color. And the paint has alligator-ed, crackled and patina-ed over time. It makes it very nice and unique looking. Simple, classic but old looking. It’s a railroad cabinet. How do we know? It has 5 old tour/railroad schedules that come with it and there are’rules and regulations’ that appear to be for the Railway Express Agency on the inside of the door. The documents on the inside of the door are very tired, worn and age. Some you can barely read. But the tour/railroad schedules are in great shape and very clear. There are two (4) day tour tickets from July 1st to July 4th, 1950 to Buffalo, NY while the three (5) day tour tickets are to Milwaukee, WI on July 2nd to July 6th, 1947. They both are for the singing group called the Swiss Harmony, which was a male vocal group, and they were traveling from Hudson County to these locations. You can see the train schedules below. Inside the tour tickets, you can see the “tear off” coupons for lunches and dinners. Don’t forget your tickets! The cabinet has some damage on the back where the wood splintered or broke, maybe when somebody took this off the wall or something, we’re not sure. Someone tried to put some newer screws in the back to hold the back on to the cabinet. The back is still loose in some places. There are also some newer smaller shiny nails trying to hold the back on. There are a lot of old round rusty nails in the back also. Who looks at the back anyway? It is a wonderful and one of a kind! The cabinet measures 36.5″ H x 31.5″ W x 11.5″ D at the top and 10.5″ D at the cabinet part. It weighs about 42 lbs. It’s a nice-sized. Cabinet and would be able to be hung on the wall or set on top of a cabinet. We don’t know the age of this item but it looks early to mid 20th century to us. There are nicks, scrapes, small cracks, dings, and worn paint/stains as you can see in the pictures but nothing you wouldn’t expect from an item of this age. We will do our best to answer your questions. Thank you for looking at this item. We have a number of new items so check out our other items. We will handle them on a case-by-case basis. 21 L ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE WOODEN TRENCHER DOUGH BOX ORIGINAL RED AND BLUE PAINT. Up for sale is this wonderful, old, beautiful wooden trencher dough box. It is rectangular in shape with canted sides with little inlet wooden handles on each end to carry it by. It doesn’t have a lid and likely did not as this one is painted inside with a wonderful Primitive blue-grey, almost a robin’s egg blue in places, color. Sometimes the ones with the painted insides didn’t have lids, that’s why they painted the inside. The color is a beautiful Primitive, almost Ox Blood, red color with wonderful patina, age marks and character marks. Wow, we love the look and all the patina! It looks to have been made from old crates. We can see some crate writing on the side of the box but we can’t read it. It looks in part to say Knudsen’s but we’re not sure. We tried to show this in the last picture. Measures 21.5″ long (at the top) and 17.5″ long (at the bottom) x 9.5″ wide (at the top) and 8″ wide (at the bottom) x 9.25 high measured to the rim. It weighs about 5 lbs. It’s a wonderful, more petite size! This will make a great conversation piece. There’s some nicks, chips, surface imperfections, scrapes, discolorations, fading and edgewear as you can see in the pictures. These “imperfections” add character! It has many character scratches to the interior and spotting or differences in color from age and use. Look at the color, WOW! Inside it’s painted and there are wear marks where the paint has come off. It’s got patina from use on the inside too! The bottom of the box has a crack in it as you can see in the pictures. It’s very clean inside. We have tried to show all of this in the photos. Please look at the photos for a more accurate description and detail. The photos are part of our description so ask lots of questions! It will hold all kinds of seasonal decorations, pumpkins, greens, yarn, fruits, flowers, or even gifts! It is really a beautiful old bowl. The bowls shown in the pictures are not included. Thank you for looking at this item. Let us know if you have any questions. We are back and will be regularly putting up new items so check out our other items. We will do our best to answer your questions. We will handle them on a case-by-case basis. We will do the same. Her face has been both drawn and painted on. Her hair is painted swirls. She has rosy cheeks, pink lips and the corners of her eyes have been colored pink, along with her nostrils. Her irises are a pale blue/grey. She has thick black lashes and a tiny dimple in her chin. Her head is big and round from the front, and somewhat flat from the sides (known as a’lollipop’ head doll). She has chubby hands with little nubby fingers. All her clothing has been sewn on, including her bonnet. She has a navy blue calico dress, and linen bloomers. Her shoes are oil cloth. She is quite solid and filled with straw (which you can see through her muslin body). The doll is jointed at the shoulders and hips and can sit. This doll has it all! A great folky, primitive look and a lovely addition to your collection! Condition: This doll is in very good condition for her age. Her socks have faded, there’s a small hole in the back of her bonnet and her bloomers are slightly dirty and have yellowed over the years. There are no holes in the doll. Add me to your favorites!
