The box is an authentic early box with the original wallpaper interior and maker’s label. The hasp and lock are reproduction replacements. The brass bail handle is an old replacement. Paint decorated double wall box in dark red paint with mustard banding on the front and side panels. You’ll need a good strong nail to hang this on as it is a good solid heavy box. It measures 18″ tall x 13-1/4″ wide x 5 deep (front to back). It is made from old vintage recycled antique wood fastened together with authentic early square cut nails. Antique Miniature Paint Decorated Document Box Folk Art

Small paint decorated document or trinket box. A nice size on this little box and grungy surface too. The box features olive banding on the top and front panels with two folk art colonial houses within the front panel banding. This miniature box measures: 9″ x 5-1/2″ x 3-1/2. The box is not that old and someone has added a bunch of small brads to the corners and to stabilize a crack on the back side. The paint is recent as well but the surface is awesome. There are scrapes, scratches and dirt on the painted surface. Please view all of the pictures and ask any questions that you might have. Old Antique AAFA Southern Paint Decorated Miniature Chest Folk Art Tennessee Box

Up for your consideration is one of my favorites of all time. This little miniature painted chest is just the sweetest little primitive thing ever. Original snipe hinges this six board chest i believe is yellow pine but not sure so look at the photos you may be able to tell. It has the boot jack sides and red ground with vibrant black decoration. This chest is signed inside the top to a little girl. It reads: for my sweet Sarah McInturff Carter County Tennessee 1807. Carter County is in the far east corner of Tennessee close to the Virginia, North Carolina Border. Tennessee was made a state in 1796. This is so early and special.. Painted pieces are very rare here in the south anyone who collects southern antiques and folk art will know what a real little treasure this is. It has the most wonderful surface and has been kept well because those snipe hinges break easily and they are intact. I have to downsize so in the next few weeks I will be posting some great pieces of folk art and antiques, check out my other auctions and check back next week.
