Early primitive cabinet with mirror. Has wear and paint loss but a great primitive look. Mirror is original but needs to be tightened a bit, stays in but moves a little bit (structurally sound). Could use some cleaning, overall a really cool piece with great color. REDUCED! Vintage 1977 FOLK ART Carved & Painted WHIRLIGIG/Wood Chopper/ALVIN HALL

This is a whimsical whirligig made & signed by ALVIN L. I used to live for a time in the St. Louis area and came upon Mr. Hall and his yard of whirligigs with a FOR SALE sign on his fence. He and his wife were retired and moving to Florida and he could not take his hobby whirligigs. This one is “Man Chopping Wood” and was made in 1977 and is typical of his personal style. The length of this whirligig is 36″ and the wooden propellers are 15&1/2″ across. The wood painted tail of the whirligig measures 12″ x 8″. The man is nicely carved and is 8 from his boots to the top of his hat. Hall showed me his little backyard workshop shed where he worked with simple hand tools to make his wind machines. NOTICE how when the wind moves the propeller (he has added thin metal and curved it to get more of the wind), it is attached to a metal shaft which then is bent so it goes in a rotation and Mr. Hall designed the chopper so that his upper body pivots up and down thereby “chopping his wood with his ax”. This American folk art whirligig is in mild weathered condition but that is part of the charm. It works perfectly and has no issues. I will create packaging that will be able to protect the piece during transport. The item “REDUCED! Early 1900’s Folk Art Hand Carved Hand Painted Guinea Bird

Offering this wonderful and unusual small hand carved and hand painted guinea bird dating from the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. Guinea birds are very rarely the subject of carvers, who most often carve song bird, water birds and prey birds, making this quite an unusual and delightful find! This is skillfully and realistically carved and painted down to the most minute detail. It stands just 5″ tall and about 4″ from beak to tail. It shows some minor wear to the wood legs (see photos) and light wear to the paint finish, some minor flaking of the paint revealing the wood underneath. For its age, it’s in great condition and displays well. Obviously from a talented artist, it is unmarked. This was found in Southern Pennsylvania and I believe it to be a local piece. It has wonderful painted plaster waves and very detailed sails. It must have taken days to make this. It has an American flag at the stern. Wonderful Ayrshire Milk Cow. Signed solid wood carving. Hand carved and hand painted. Signed by Larry Koosed & Dated 2007. This Ayrshire Milk Cow is absolutely stunning! She measures 12″ long and stand 8″ tall. She is painted in very lifelike colors of the breed, brown and white. Signed inside the back leg, L. Upon close inspection, I only noted a minor tiny scuff to the paint on her hip and a line on her leg where the leg meets the body when the carver assembled her parts for carving. This is in the paint only, and is viewable in my photos. Larry Koosed is a well known carver in rural Ohio and is known for his beloved and whimsical farm animal carvings. 19th C American Antique Folk Art Hand Carved Painted Kinetic Hinged Wooden Doll

RARE EARLY-MID 19TH CENTURY AME RI CAN ANTIQUE FOLK ART HAND CARVED, HAND. PAINTED KINETIC WOODEN DOWEL HINGED. WOOD DOLL, WITHOUT ORIGINAL. 19th century Ame ri can antique hand carved & paint decorated hinged wooden figurative dolls. 12″ Height x 2 ½” Width x 2 ¾ Depth. Absolutely untouched and undisturbed overall antique condition and recently discovered in a New England estate. It remains in wonderfully well-preserved overall condition, without its original fabric period clothing but with its painted head and painted upper shoulders and neck, largely unscathed and completely intact. All wooden limbs and wood pin hinged legs and arms are fully working, intact and present. The original paint of the doll showcases the anticipated, traditional mid-19th century Victorian female hair style and neckline, where her linen blouse would have began, just where the white paint is seen ending on her upper chest. Her hair is cleanly parted down the middle and the two sides hide her ears, in the traditional, modest and still largely Puritan sensibility toward the sublimation of a woman’s natural beauty, where ears were regarded as too erotic and sexual to show and reveal. Hands and feet are sublimated to the larger forms of arms and legs. Blue and red paint are used for the lips and eyes. The wood has a naturally aged, dry finish and the enamel paint is largely intact, free of flaking or diminishment that the harmful effects of sunlight, heat or cold regularly cause such old and antique painted wooden items. Simply extraordinary and an exquisite and magnificent example of mid-19th century Ame ri can hand carved and hand painted figurative wooden folk art. Very Good to Excellent overall antique condition. Stunning Holstein Milk Cow. Signed solid wood carving. Hand carved and hand painted. Signed by Larry Koosed & Dated 2008. This Holstein Milk Cow is absolutely adorable as she gazes at you over her shoulder! She measures 12″ long and stand 7.75″ tall. She is painted in very lifelike colors of the breed, black and white. Signed inside the back leg, L. Upon close inspection, I only noted a minor tiny spot of yellow paint over a black spot on her side, as though she rubbed against something yellow.
