Very sweet oil on canvas seascape painting with great subject. Illegibly signed in corner, but I can read that the artist or scene is from Boston. Light, tiny spots of loss noticeable upon close inspection but still displays very nicely. Nice craquelure all over. Please use photos and zoom feature for most accurate condition. Measures 20″ by 16″. Please get them approved before purchasing. Any questions must be answered before the sale. Almost everything I offer is old and has likely spent time in a basement or garage. Stunning Vintage- Impressionist Oil on Board -Looks to be a New England fishing Port Village with a boat moored in the harbor, several clam houses and a rocky coastline – This painting is signed lower right-hand corner T. Miceli (Thomas Miceli) A well-known local New England Artist. Also titled on the back in pencil “Fishing Boats” – Painting measures approx. 16 X 20 dated 1982. What’s wrong with it? The painting is in pretty good condition, with some minor issues including paint loss, dings, dents, chips, cracks, scrapes, scratches, nicked edges, smudges, and crackling. This American primative school oil painting depicts a charming scene, undoubtedly painted from life, of an old house on a wooded and rocky promontory overlooking a lake. The oil is painted on some type of artist board. Painted by a “Sunday artist” as they called the amateur folk painters, perhaps the owner of the house. I had the painting reframed with a quality wooden frame appropriate to its character. The backing is conservation quality. Sight: 11 1/2″ x 8 1/2″. Frame: 15′ x 12.

Original antique painting of a seaside landscape in New England. Oil on stretched canvas, 8″ x 16″ A small group of houses clustered on a shoreline under an overcast sky. A rocky outcrop in the foreground, a pair of small rowboats moored in the cove, several sailing boats on the ocean horizon, seabirds flying over the water. The skill level of the painting is on the level of folk art ; an attractive scene, evocative of simple country life on the coast of southern New England in the 19th century. Unsigned and undated, however this was clearly painted in the late 1800s. Exact location of this scene is unknown; probably the shoreline of either Rhode Island or Massachusetts, circa 1880s-1890s. The wooden stretcher is stamped with the patent date Oct. Artists’ Supplies and Stationary Regilding a Speciality 411 Broadway, Chelsea Massachusetts ———– The painting is in as-found condition, with surface scuffs and some paint loss. There are three holes through the canvas in the painted sky. The canvas is still securely nailed to the stretcher, as it has been for around 130+ years. This item is in the category “Art\Paintings”. This is a super nice antique folk art oil on board painting of “Sailing Boats Scene”. I do not see a signature anywhere on the painting but it appears to be quite old.
