EARLY ANTIQUE FOLK ART PRIMITIVE WOOD DRY WRITING SLOPE SQUARE NAILS DOVETAILED. Up for sale is this wonderful old primitive writing slope or desk with cubbies or slots. This is an old, table top style desk. The lid lifts up but it doesn’t stay up by itself. We propped it up with a tube in the pictures and the tube it not included. Above the writing slope there are compartments for documents. There are 18 horizontal slots and one large area to the left. The big area to the left has 3 vertical slots but there are no dividers for those slots. This is an old desk with a great look! It’s a wonderful dry wood, greyish green painted alligatored and crackled color with wood undertones. It’s a very nice color. In some areas, it’s a lighter green, like across the front. Inside, it’s a little grungy and shows years of use and age. The paint appears to be all original and is dry, alligator, worn, rubbed, scraped, chipped, nicked, edge worn and patina-ed! This is everything you’d expect to see from an old survivor desk like this! What a great look! There are a couple of Shaker style metal hinges in the top so the top can hinge upward. On the front of the desk and in the top of the writing slope there are holes where there used to be a lock of some sort. The bottom of the desk is made from 3 boards and there is some separation between the boards as you can see in the pictures of the bottom and the pictures of the inside. The top of the cubbies is one board and that board has warped some over time as you can see in the pictures from the sides. We don’t know the age or origin of this cabinet but we do know that it’s adorable! Please see photos for accurate detail and description. ANTIQUE BREAD BOX VAN DYKE BAKERY DETROIT METAL BREAD BOX PATRIOTIC FLAG STARS. Up for sale is this fabulous antique bread box! It’s big, it’s beautiful and it’s old! It’s from the Van Dyke Bakery, which, after a little research, we determined was in Detroit, MI. We don’t see any references on the internet to the company after 1917. There are several ads and articles before then, but not after 1917. We’re not sure what this means. The box is all metal and wood as you can see in the pictures. The box is yellow with a shield of red, white and blue (now mostly black). It has two shields painted on the front that say. On the side it says. 245 Van Dyke Ave. With a little research we found that this is in Detroit as was the bakery. It’s a big boy and measures 28″ wide x 20.5″ deep x 20 high and it weighs a hefty 38 lbs! It has a flip top lid on it with cool old hinges on it. Inside it’s a lighter color and has some rustiness to it. The bottom is pretty rusty / grungy and the sides are pretty scraped and marked up. On the outside you can see the wood frames that make the box and then the metal panels that make up the sides of the bread box. The wood had metal corner protectors and those are rusty too. The paint is all alligatored, crackled, and patina-ed as you can see in the pictures. It’s been very used over the years and has lots of scrape, grunge and patina but it’s a great look!! This is a rare find! It has some fading, crackling paint, edgewear, paint loss, wood missing, paint chips, and patina. OOAK ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE FOLK ART AAFA PIE SAFE ORIGINAL BLUE ALLIGATOR PAINT ORIGINAL SCREENS!!! Up for sale is this amazing old pie safe. This is the real deal!! It’s old, it’s Primitive and it’s fabulous! 37 1/4″ W x 40.5″ H x 10.75 D. It’s a rare, one-of-a-kind white, folksy, screened pie safe. It has two doors on it with old Shaker style hinges as you can see in the pictures. The doors work well and the right door has a little wood thumb turn at the top to hold it shut against the cabinet. The cabinet then has a piece of wood down the middle of the cabinet. The left door does not have a thumb turn that holds the left door shut but it doesn’t open on it’s own for us. The doors are old. And there’s a little play in the doors on the hinges and when they are closed. The doors are 3/4 thick. It’s a wonderful and nice blue color. The screens are old, out of shape, a little rusty, perhaps have some paint on them and have a few holes here and there. Inside there are three shelves and they are a grungy, worn and well-used white. The shelves are slightly over 3/4 thick. The back is made from 4 old, wide and cracked boards and one across the top. There are big square nails in the boards on the back and and most of them are painted over in the color of the back which is a lighter, and probably newer blue than the front as it’s not alligatored or crackled like the blue on the front. The top is not painted but is very aged and has rusty nails. There are also some scratches, nicks, chips, surface rust, paint loss, alligator paint, crackle, hand rub wear, edge wear, paint marks and patina. These are all things you want to see in a true antique – don’t you just love it? ! ? ! It’s a very nice piece for your collection. Thank you for looking at this item. ANTIQUE AAFA FOLK ART PARCHEESI GAME BOARD MADE FROM CRATES. Up for sale is this old hand painted checkerboard. It has a great folk art feel to it! The board is for Parcheesi and has old faded red and green. It has worn edges, cracks, paint loss and hand wear. The gaming part has lots of wear. The board is a 6 point star field. It appears to be made from one large piece of wood from a crate with a large crack down the middle. It measures 16 L x 14.5 W and is about 1.25 thick. There is a small hanger on the back to hang the board on the wall. You can see this in the pictures. There is crate stenciling on the back but we don’t know what it says. On one side there are the handwritten initials A. As mentioned, theres some edge wear, paint loss, nicks, scrapes, scratches, dings and a crack down the center. EARLY AAFA ANTIQUE FOLK ART APOTHECARY CABINET ORIGINAL PAINT. Up for sale is this wonderful three-drawer apothecary cabinet. It has two equal sized drawers on the top row and one on the bottom each with its own little mushroom style pull. The color is a medium brown with a lot of alligatoring. It has edge wear and the paint is scuffed. What a great look! 24.75″ L x 15″ D x 10.5 H. The bottom drawer 17.25″ W x 12.25″ D x 2.25 H. Top drawers 7.25″ W x 12.25″ D x 2 H. It’s sturdy and it’s heavy, weighing in around 25 lbs. The top is made from two pieces of wood and is the wonderful brown. The back is wood also and has some holes in it and marks on it as you can see. The drawers are butt jointed and of solid wood. They have old round nails in the bottoms and sides as you can see in the pictures. All the drawers work well. On the bottom of one of the drawers you can clearly see vertical kerfing, the kind that comes from a mechanical saw. With a little research we found that the first mechanical vertical saws were in use around 1840 and later, in to the early 1900’s. After that it was more common that circular kerfing was found by the more effective mechanical circular milling saws. So, this dates this from the mid-late 1800’s most likely. On the fronts of the drawers there are mushroom type knobs and each knob. There are also little escutcheons for a lock on each drawer. Two of the three escutcheons are there but the upper left one is missing. The locks are still there but we don’t have the keys. It is a wonderful and one of a kind item! There are nicks, scrapes, dings. Paint loss, paint drips, paint chips, and worn finish as you can see in the pictures but nothing you wouldn’t expect from an item of this age. EARLY AAFA ANTIQUE FOLK ART AMERICAN APOTHECARY CABINET ORIGINAL WHITE PAINT. Up for sale is this wonderful twenty-five drawer apothecary cabinet. It has 25 equal sized drawers each with its own porcelain knob pull. The color is aged white with lot of paint loss, rubs, scrapes and patina. The paint appears to be all original although there might be more than one coat, it’s hard to tell! What a great look! 27.25 W at the top x 7.5 W x 24.25 H. Rawers measure: 3.75 W x 5.75 D x 3.25 H. The cabinet weighs 37 lbs. The top is one piece of wood and it has worn too over the ages. The back is made of five pieces of wood. There are tons of rusty round nails in the back of the cabinet. It’s very clean inside considering its age. The drawers have white porcelain knobs with little slotted screws. The knobs and screws have a lot of paint on them also as you can see in the pictures. Some of the drawers have writing on them on the outside of the drawers which you can’t see once they are slid in to the cabinet. Most of the writing is in pencil and says things like. You can see where a couple of drawers don’t close up to the top of the cabinet and there’s a little gap between the cabinet and the drawers. All the drawers work well, though. We don’t know the age of this cabinet but it looks old to us! You make the call. It is a wonderful and one of a kind item! There are nicks, scrapes, dings, edgewear, chunks, paint loss, paint chips, and some chips on the upper right side as you can see in the pictures but nothing you wouldn’t expect from an item of this age. EARLY AAFA ANTIQUE FOLK ART AMERICAN APOTHECARY CABINET ORIGINAL PAINT. Up for sale is this wonderful four-drawer apothecary cabinet. The color is a nice soft putty color. There are also some areas where the paint is thin and the wood underneath is showing through. The paint is all crackled and alligatored as you can see in the pictures. The paint appears to be all original. Inside and under the drawers, the cabinet has green paint and some of the drawers have some hints of green too. 24.5 L x 10.25 W x 14.25 H. 8 W x 8.5 D x 2 H. The top is one piece of wood and is also wonderfully aged. There are some holes in the top as you can see in the pictures. The back is made from one piece of. Plywood wood and the paint is very crackled. The drawers each have a finger hole in the them as you can see in the pictures. All the drawers work well. The drawers are fairly clean inside considering the age of the cabinet. You can see a gap to the right of the second drawer where a piece of wood has gone missing. The big area to the left is also fairly clean and is only painted in part of the area toward the front. In the bottom of the cabinet there are rusty old square nails around the perimeter of the bottom. We don’t know the age of this cabinet but it looks old to us! You make the call. AAFA ANTIQUE FOLK ART NOAH’S ARK TOY BOAT WOOD ANIMALS STICK LEG PUTZ GERMAN? Up for sale is this adorable antique Folk Art Noah’s Ark including Noah + 16 animals. The Ark is probably from the early 1900’s. It has original hand-painted windows and trim accents. The ark itself measures about. 7.25 L for just the boat and 10.5 L at the base. The little cows are 1.25 H x 1.75 L. All the animals are all so cute!! It has its roof and half of it flips up on little red fabric or tape like things. The paint on the ark is a nice faded soft cream, almost a soft green color with brown Tudor style accents and a black and bittersweet roof. The bottom of the boat is more red as you can see in the pictures. It’s all hand-painted with wonderful detail and character. The paint is smudged, worn, patina-ed and original. Inside it’s a single compartment for all of your animals. The bottom of the ark is flat as you can see in the pictures. This ark comes with 16 animals that are wooden nicely detailed and hand painted. 2 grey zebra like things, 2 yellow lambs, 2 black and white cows, 2 orangish zebras. 2 pink pigs, 1 brown and white cow and 1 tan and white cow, 2 reddish dogs? And 2 white dogs. The animals also have paint loss, scrapes, patina, smudges, chips, dots, marks. They all have four legs, stand up and their ears. They appear to be all original. Original hinges and tin closure. Exceptional surviving condition with no damage or touchups! Dating mid 19th century. This example survives in the finest condition! Constructed with NO nails, only wooden pegs! A GREAT PIECE OF PENNSYLVANIA GERMAN STYLE FOLK ART. THIS IS A FANTASTIC EARLY PAINTED MINIATURE DOMED TOP BOX IN A VERY RARE ORIGINAL BLUE PAINTED SURFACE WITH VIBRANT TULIP DECORATION. AAFA EARLY FOLK ART ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE WALL CABINET CUPBOARD OLD BLUE PAINT. Up for sale is this adorable wall cabinet or cupboard. It’s a wonderful deep blue color. It has a single door and scroll top. There’s a super cute little mushroom handle, Shaker style hinges and a thumb-turn metal spin latch. The top metal hinge pin is a long nail. The cabinet measures 19 H to the main part of the cabinet and 23.75 H to the top x 12 W x 6 D. This cabinet would work nicely as a medicine cabinet in a bathroom or just as a nice display piece on the wall. There are two large holes in the scroll top probably from where it was hung on the wall. The cabinet is old, but we don’t know how old. The paint is old and crackled with blue on top with green and wood color undertones. The back of the cupboard is wood and it made from 3 pieces of wood as you can see in the pictures. The nails are rusty, old and round. Inside there’s two shelves, three sections total. The inside is painted and off-white with stains, streaks, chips, edgewear and obvious wear from use and age.
