This offering is for an antique mid 19th century folk art painting of a rooster. The artwork was done using real feathers and watercolor on paper detailing. The frame size is app. 10″ by 13″ and the sight size is app. 6.5 by 9. There is a very small V shaped tear at the bottom in the grass. Otherwise the condition is excellent with very minor wear to the artwork but no rips, tears or repairs. Great acrylic on canvas painting of mans best friend. There is no artist signature or date. The canvas, style and provenance of the painting help me date it some time around the late 19th century. Measures 17 1/4 x 14. There is a small nick to the canvas below the dogs collar (see pics). Scuff and ware present to sides, top and bottom of canvas. Wonderful early 19th century tin toleware document box. Great folk art look. New York State in origin. Larger than often found, it has a domed hinged lid and is complete with its hinges, top brass handle, and clasp closure. It is wonderfully hand painted with a beautiful mustard yellow and red floral pattern with various painted motifs all around. The left side shows no evidence of paint decoration, and must have either never been painted or it has completely worn off. Measures 9 9 3/4 inches across by 5 3/4 inches deep by 7 1/4 inches tall. You are viewing an antique oil on canvas of a summer landscape of haystacks, an open field with a maiden tending to a flock of geese. No holes or tears. Two older professional repairs on group of tree’s foliage (see last photo), otherwise the canvas is in good condition. Framed in a gilded wood ornate frame measuring 20 inches in height and 24 inches in width. Some professional restoration to one side of the inner frame. Canvas alone is 16″ X 20″. An antique 19th century watercolor painting on paper measuring approximately 10 3/8 x 8 inches (visible) behind glass in a wood frame measuring approximately 16 5/8 x 14 1/8 inches as a complete piece. The frame is original based on the age of the nails and the wood backing and the former have never been removed. One of the four flowers has some loss as pictured. Has initials carved in the top “HL”. Paint appears to be possibly sponge decorated in it’s origional color. Measures 16″w x 8″ h x 8.5 deep.
