ANTIQUE 19th CENTURY AMERICAN FEDERAL CHEST WITH FOLK ART PAINT DECORATION ; A LARGE AMERICAN PINE CHEST OF DRAWERS CIRCA 1825 WITH A WILD FOLK ART PAINTED SURFACE THAT WAS PROBABLY DONE IN THE 1960’s OR 1970’s. PROBABLY INSPIRED BY SOME MUSEUM FOLK ART CHEST. PLEASE LOOK AT PICS CAREFULLY FOR DAMAGE. THE CASE IS IN GOOD CONDITION, BUT I BELIEVE THAT SOMEONE TRIED TO DISTRESS THE DRAWER FRONTS AS THEY HAVE MORE WEAR THAN FROM NORMAL USE. THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CHEST HAS A SPLIT IN THE TWO BOARDS ALONG THE GLUE JOINT. THERE IS A LARGE CHUNK MISSING FROM THE TOP AS SEEN IN THE PICS. ALL DRAWERS ARE DOVETAILED CONSTRUCTION AND EARLY SQUARE NAILS. 46″ WIDE, 45″ HIGH, 18 DEEP ; AS FOUND CONDITION QUESTIONS? Here is a wonderful primitive 19th Century watercolor of a mother and her child from Maine 1830. As you can see there is plenty of color and detail in the watercolor. There is a beautiful decorated carpet at their feet. It is in its original grain painted frame. The backing was removed and updated to an acid free black mat and archival corners. The size of the watercolor is 9 X 10 1/2. ” The frame is 12 3/4″ 14 5/8. Provenance is from the Lynn Dingus Collection in Ohio. That is her label on the back of the watercolor. It has a really folk art look and wonderfully designed lines. The apron is beautifully crafted as are the artful cut out legs. The grain paint was masterfully done and is in excellent condition especially for the age of this bench. It has very minor wear to the painted surface- if any at all. It was handmade and has a great look- A really beautiful piece! It is probably from the early to mid 1800s. It measures approx 12.25″ long by 6.5″ wide and approx 7 6/16 tall. It would look wonderful on a country table with small accessories or special collections or items displayed on it. View my other auctions for additional fine period items. Scandinavian Folk Art Tine Bent Box 19th Century Painted. Circa 1890 1920 made in Norway, Denmark or Sweden, it is made from thin pieces of steam bentwood, laced together with tree root twisted handmade rope. It has two vertical posts to hold the lid. To open you lightly pull apart the side posts, then the lid is loose to open. It has the original folk art painting done on both sides. It has an old restoration on one wing, otherwise in good condition. I see two screws one on each end to hold the posts. Old looking and clean on the inside, The handle is held on the a thin piece of wood. It has a thick patina on the lid. Wooden pegs are showing on the bottom. It measures 11 ½ inches long x 4 inches wide 3 inches tall, and 1 inch for the handle. 19TH CENTURY ANTIQUE EQUINE PAINTING SIGNED M. We’re delighted to offer for sale this wonderful 19th century antique equine painting by listed Vermont artist M. Slayton worked as an itinerant artist in Vermont commissioned by middle – upper class families painting animals, portraits, landscapes etc. The painting is well executed depicting a horse in a field with vegetation & nice blue sky. The painting is signed ME Slayton 1897 in the lower right corner. The painting is also dated 1975 on the back of the canvas. This was most likely done by a restorer who was either commissioned to repair the painting or clean it. The painting measures 27 1/4″ wide x 23 1/2″ tall with a sight size of 19 1/2″ wide x 15 3/4″ tall. We are a wholly owned family business in our third decade of continuous operation.
