1870’s FOLK ART STYLE PAINTED RING BASEBALL BAT- L@@K

OFFERED HERE IS A SUPER RARE AND ANTIQUE BASEBALL BAT. THIS BAT IS CRICA 1870’S-80’S AND IS WHAT THEY CALLED A HIGH END “FANCY BAT”. PECK & SNYDER HAD SEVERAL ADS AS WELL AS OTHER EARLY COMPANIES FOR FANCY BATS WHICH WERE HIGH PRICED BATS THAT CAME PAINTED, AND WITH PAINTED RINGS, WITH CUSTOM INCISED RINGS AND ROUNDED KNOBS. THIS ONE HAS ALL THESE QUALITIES AND I HAVE ONLY SEEN ONE OR TWO LIKE IT IN 27 YEARS OF COLLECTING. THIS IS A MAROON PAINTED BAT OVER ORIGINAL WOOD PATINA AND THE BAT IS A RING BAT WHICH NORMALLY PREDATES THEM TO PRIOR TO 1900. THE BAT KNOB IS A VERY RARE ROUND KNOB WITH AN INCISED CARVING IN THE CENTER SIMILAR TO ONES ADVERTISED VERY EARLY ON. THE BAT HAS TWO PORTIONS OF BLACK RINGS ONE ON THE HANDLE AND KNOB AND ONE ON THE VERY TIP. THIS EARLY TROPHY TYPE BAT ALSO HAS ALMOST A WAVED WOOD GRAINING THAT I TRIED TO PUT IN THE PICTURES BUT MY CAMERA IS OLD. THE BAT MEASURES 29 INCHES AND IS IN GORGEOUS CONDITION WITH NO CRACKS AND SOLID GORGEOUS PATINA. THIS VINTAGE BASEBALL BAT IS JUST MY FAVORITE. YOU HAVE THE FOLK ART BASEBALL STYLE TROPHY BAT, THE DUAL RINGS ON EITHER END AND THE WAVING GRAIN AND THE INCISED ROUND KNOB. IT SIMPLY HAS EVERYTHING AND STUNNING. IT IS ALSO PROBABLY 130-150 YEARS OLD SO DOES HAVE NORMAL WEAR. DOES HAVE A FEW MARKS AND DENTS ON BARREL BUT AGAIN IT IS 100 PLUS YEAR OLD BAT. RARE 1870’s FOLK ART O/C PAINTING 3 SPORTING DOGS FIELD SPANIEL LABRADOR RETREVR

This is a rare and fantastic ca 1870’s Folk Art oil on canvas painting of 3 Labrador Retrievers OR Cocker Spaniel breeds. A Chocolate Lab, a Black Lab and a white one, or a. White Clumber Spaniel, red is a Sussex Spaniel, dog in the rear is a Field Spaniel. Sporting dogs in a close team group. I love the naive faces on these guys and the way the the white one is laying head on the Chocolate one. This is pure folk art. I DO know is that this type of animal folk art is so hard to come by, especially from the 1800’s , its a rare treasure. They were not cheap… But then neither is this art work. Folk Art is still hot and great animals like these are hotter. The piece is unsigned as much folk art is. Its in wonderful as found condition and was prized by, like myself, its past owner. It is 18″ wide and 16.5″ tall in a period FANTASTIC Birdseye maple frame with gold leaf liner (1870s frame too). The period frame is worth a couple hundred alone! It has a couple very minor condition issues that u can see in my photos, but its an amazing frame. Wish I could give you some background on who these terrific pets are, but alas, that passed long ago. I just know they are fantastic. Any questions PLEASE ask! This offering is for an antique mid to late 19th century Molded Ripple Pattern Picture Frame. The frame measures app. 10 3/4″ by 12″ and the rabbet measures app. 12 8 1/8 by 9 3/8 The frame was constructed with round nails so it dates from the 1850’s to about the 1880’s. The original dark varnish finish is very nice and it has a glided inside edge. There is a surface chip on one of the corners as seen in our close-up photo’s. Otherwise the condition is very nice with only light scattered wear. The surface is excellent and untouched with a great deep patina. The frame will make the perfect addition to an early portrait, folk art painting or print. This offering is for a mid 19th century Folk Art Tinsel Painting. The artwork was done using a technique of reverse painting on glass combined with colored tinsel or foil. The overall size including the frame is app. 12.25″ by 14.75″. The design incorporates a floral wreath surrounding a period print of a mother and child. There is minor crazing to the black paint but very little if any actual loss and the artwork displays beautifully. Very interesting painting by unknown primitive artist depicts a man handing out advert leaflets for a performance. Behind him are posters glued to a wood fence. They advertise performances at both the Providence Opera house and Theatre Comique, also a Providence venue famous at the time. Small Antique 1870s American Folk Art Miniature Portrait Watercolor Painting NR

The 8 5/8″ by 10″ Figured Maple, Veneered Frame is original. There is some very old bug bites on the right corner. (I guarantee that the little critters are long gone). And some gesso damage to the inner gilt fillet. The wood backboards were replaced on the 20th century and must have also had some bug bites, because they did add ten very tiny holes to the painting.
