This antique American tramp art picture frame takes a very unusual and folky shape, rather than using endless rows of rectangular pyramids as most often seen. The maker had a really fine sense of design! Instead of the typical diagonal notches in square-edged layers, these edges are beveled and grooved, creating a fluted effect. The old original shiny varnish is somewhat blistered, forming an attractive patina. There is a rare and perfectly intact carved wooden hanger at top. Although missing several tip pieces, it presents and displays very well, the losses long since oxidized to blend in. Be sure to look carefully at the pictures. The frame is 9 1/2″ x 8″ with a 5 1/2″ x 4″ opening. Main photo shows the truest colors. Fresh to the market is this fantastic original folk art painting by Taos New Mexico artist, Albert Lujan. This fine image includes 3 figures and is in great to excellent overall original condition (tiny pin points of paint loss and needs cleaning) — retaining its original folk art frame with only minor loss. Image measures 6 inches by 8 1/2 inches. Overall, measurements including frame are 9 3/4 by 12 3/4 inches. Albert Lujan specialized in painting the multi-storied buildings seen at his native Taos Pueblo, usually devoid of people and typically in miniature scale. Classically, these amazing views included a pueblo adobe house framed by beehive outdoor ovens, majestic mountains, beautiful New Mexico blue sky, and oftentimes, a ristra of chili. Was an early Taos painter. He was ahead of his time by painting with a style influence by Euro-American artists. In contrast, many of his classmates at THE STUDIO taught by Dorothy Dunn at the Santa Fe Indian School developed their own unique style of painting and continued to utilize what became known as the Flat Style of Native American painting. His work was shunned by collectors and the Museum of New Mexico Fine Art Gallery because it was too much like what other Taos and Santa Fe artists produced. Now he has come of age and his works are being sought by collectors and museums. In fact, an exhibit of some 40 works was recently displayed at the Harwood Museum of Art in Taos, New Mexico. The exhibit featured the works of Albert Lujan, Albert Looking Elk Martinez (also of Taos), and Juan Mirabal. These three artists all painted in what is known as the European style. Absolutely beautiful and a work of art! Old 19th century antique rocking cradle. Beautifully painted wood in floral and fauna. This is EXTRAORDINARY, original, hand painted finish. Predominantly red background color with painted flowers that adorn the sides and the curved, rocking feet. The cradle is not marked or signed. It is in good, antique condition and has at least on old repair to a scrolled rocker. This doesnt compromise the structural integrity of the cradle and these can be resolved. The cradle rocks smoothly. This is a small cradle designed for a newborn infant or maybe a doll. It is 22 long, and a narrow 7 wide. Please view all photos as they contribute to the description. This is an antique primitive hand painted set of 3 windows out of a 1800/ early 1900’s era Romani gypsy wagon. All original metal hardware latches all windows open and work perfectly. Each window roughly measures 16.5″ x 19″ each is unique and different being hand crafted. The painted colors on these windows are still vibrant and bright the detail is amazing. They are not chipped or banged up. I have them hanging above my fireplace in my living room. From a smoke-free home. The last picture of the Romani wagon is just to give you an idea of what they came off of and It is not the actual wagon. Please let me know if you need any more pictures on something specific. These would make a very cute cat door in a window or decor just sitting on back of a buffet cabinet. Price is for all three I will not split up the set sorry. This is a rare and fantastic, super nice piece of early American primitive folk art. An oil on canvas still life painting, ca 1880’s to 1890’s, depicting a string – or 2 sticks really, of speckled trout. Quite possibly upstate NY or New Hampshire but could be from anywhere with woods and fish. The painting has nice colors with a great subject matter. It is a fresh find gleaned from a long time private collection, and comes in sweet, as found condition, with no cleaning or restoration of any kind on my or the previous owners end. Attic fresh so to speak. It comes framed in a period Adirondack type wooden Oak & Gesso frame with old stretcher & with old nails, all appropriate to the time period. The stretcher was a little loose in the frame so a couple modern screws were added to the back of the frame to better secure the painting. This can be easily changed should someone wish to. The painting is unsigned but seems pretty well done. Framed it is 25.5 tall and 17.5. Not much of any issues at all for its age, just one little stretcher edge split in the canvas as pictured… About 3/4 long and some lite finish wear. This painting will make a nice addition to any folk art collection or to any wall in general. Its a nice find! Any questions PLEASE ask!
