1917 ANTIQUE IMPRESSIONIST MAN FISHING SAILBOATS FOLK ART OIL PAINTING EDNA GASS. It appears to be signed lower right Edna Gass 1917, paitning on board. Light wear, includign light scuffing. In a period frame, repainted at some point with some finish wear. The frame measures 17 3/4″w x 10 3/4″h. Painting measures 14 1/2″w x 7 1/2″h. It has a partial donor label on the back Mrs Hiram Broom?? Edna Gass the listed American Artist from Philadelphia was born 1904 and passed in 1993. 1835 Watercolor Folk Art Friendship Poetry. This is a page from a scrapbook measuring about 8 1/4″ x 11″ on blue colored stock. It is a poem written by Mary Lavina and dated August 6, 1835. Handcolored wreath is especially attractive painted in watercolor. / Time Flies / but Friendship / Stays / A. The blue paper has some folds and cuts at the top where a print or card would have been secured on the backside. Two period prints remain pasted on the back. Attractive piece ready to be framed as is.

Painted since 1982 when he moved to Florida for health reasons at the age of 73. He painted daily until one summer night at 93 he was found bewildered and wondering the halls of his retirement home, he had painted himself with Day-Glo paint and sprinkled himself with silver glitter. I think his paintings are original naive, brilliant and dream like folk art. There is mild to average surface wear, please refer to the pics. Over the years I bought all of his paintings I have from his son also named Gene and lives in Pennsylvania. Any questions please ask and thanks for looking.. Individual portraits measure 11×171/2 paper glued to cardboard “Waiting at Watson Clinic” written in pen on the back.
