ESTATE, FROM PRIVATE COLLECTION. Vintage oil on canvas painting by listed American artist Jo Sickbert wintage village scene. Jo Sickbert was born in 1931. She won a music scholarship to Wichita State Univ. (Kansas) but after a year, transferred to the Univ. Of Kansas to study art. She lived in Wichita and did technical illustrations for Beechcraft Inc. When she moved to Chicago, her style became naive or primitive. Her work was widely shown in the 1970s and one of her paintings was used as a cover of a 1973 Saturday Evening Post. These are’a pair’ in matching frames, a Winter scene and a Spring scene, oil on canvas by A. Kowalski the Hungarian artist. Framed in matching wood frames with cloth matting, both are signed by the artist but the signature on the snow scene is just below the edge of the frame. It would be more visible in another frame or if adjusted. I have had these for nearly a year and just found the second signature today. Because I thought the Snow scene was not signed I wanted to keep them together. Both are 24 wide x 20 high. See all pics for best description of condition.
