The scene depicts a stagecoach moving at pace down a large country lane. Well-presented in a 20th century gilt-effect frame. Signed and dated (1910) to the lower right-hand corner. There is a fine scratch to the upper third of the oil and light wear to the frame. Born in Chalfont, Hertfordshire, Rideout is known largely for his coaching scenes and a few hunting, coursing and racing paintings. Rideout’s’ work is widely collected.
