19th C Antique Wooden Firkin Sugar Bucket Early Pumpkin Paint Folk Art Aafa Nr
Offering a wonderful 11 7/8 tall (excluding handle), early to mid 19th century, round wooden firkin in early, worn, pumpkin painted surface, with lots of character and age appropriate wear. The firkin is an awesome example, with a 1 1/8″ – 7/8″ tapering bentwood bail handle, staved construction, 4 bentwood bands with elongated “fingers” secured with handmade rosehead type nails. It is a beautiful, early firkin with a wonderful and worn painted surface. Nice simple form and lines… DIMENSIONS – 11 7/8 high to top of lid, approx. 17 3/8″ high to top of handle, 11 3/8″ diameter lid, 11 7/8 diameter bottom. CONDITION – BEAUTIFUL, EARLY TO MID 19TH CENTURY, WOODEN FIRKIN IN EARLY, WORN, PUMPKIN PAINTED SURFACE, WITH LOTS OF CHARACTER! THE FIRKIN IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH JUST MINOR WOOD LOSS TO THE LID BAND AND A SMALL CHIP OF WOOD OUT OF THE LID. IT IS SOLID, TIGHT AND SECURE AND THE LID FITS VERY SNUG!
